I think a huge issue is people treating pitbulls as one breed. There's tonnes and tonnes of them and each breed can have different traits.

Since I was little I have always wanted a staffordshire bull terrier.

And they are known for their people-friendliness and loyalty - they are not necessarily good with other dogs though. In Scotland all the shelters are full of staffies because people get them expecting them to be great pets because they're "nanny dogs" but if you're an idiot who doesn't realise how much exercise and training these dogs needs you're a fucking moron.

I once knew the chillest staffy, she adored people but disliked dogs, she was gentle and sweet but her owners didn't exercise her enough so she would run away.

I know another staffy who is chill and loves her owner and her toys and that's about it, she wouldn't necessarily bite but she definitely avoids strangers.

I also know a staffy who is a little shit and if I got the chance I would have loved to yell at his owner; the dog was possessive-agressive and he didn't much like other dogs, if another dog played with him he would not let go to the point of exhaustion or loss and if he lost he would go after the other dog, on countless occasions he nipped me and jumped up and nipped my shirt, she once got into a fight with a boxer and if people didn't intervene he had every likelihood of winning the fight. He was a vile dog, but there are vile and good animals in ever breed.

They not only wanted to euthanize my beagle, but every dog in the household. So my other dog, a mix breed, and my roommates mix breed. It was overturned then the lady ran out of money to keep up her lawyers who would actually take the case.

I haven't gotten a pit of my own yet but I've had a lot of friends who own them and worked in a pet store previously and got to meet all sorts of dogs. They don't deserve the flack they get, you need to raise them properly and with patience like any dog. Pits IMO act like one of the biggest babies of big dogs and I've always enjoyed their company. I got bit once by an elderly pit but it was just because he wigged out a stranger walked past the house while I was opening the gate to go out, he was super cool with me before that. Any dog can harm you.

I tend to browse North Shore's site a lot and I saw this angel up for adoption. I wish I could claim them as mine.
