Ragdoll owner here. I guess it depends on what u want? U want big catdog, get Ragdoll. U want big catcat, get a Maine Coon. It's that simple. Main difference in what ive read about Main Coons, is that they behave as actual cats. Where Ragdolls, like mine, behaves like a dog. Waits by the door for me when i get home, is always in a 4 meter radius of u, and it even liked to play fetch as a kitten.

I've only had moggies but while not breed related, male cats make the best bros. My females have been outgoing and friendly too, but male cats just tend to be way chiller.

I've looked into Ragdolls before and like dogs, there is a lot of shitty breeders. You can get a kitten for $200-600 but they can develop a fuck ton of issues.
Tons of people sell kittens as maine coons as well. Basically anyone with a long haired cat thinks they have one.

Honestly the best cat breeds are some I've just found. Ran into one that was really jacked up while I was out biking that had been dumped. Took him home in my bike basket and drove him to a vet who said he had been abused. At first he was scared of me and hid but I gradually earned his trust over several months and now he's really playful and loving. Follows me everywhere and sleeps on my feet. Stands guard at the window and growls at people who walk by on the sidewalk.
I would suggest a male, possibly a Maine coon breed or mix. The only problem is he only really ever bonded with me, even though other family members have taken over feeding him while I'm at work and play with him regularly. My female cats have bonded with more people.

I really like ragdolls. In my experience they are very gentle and have an even temperament. Every maincoon I've seen is very wiley and rough when playing and loves to play in the middle of the knight. Nothing says fun like 30 lbs of cat tackling into your legs when walking through your house at night. Because kitty wants to play.

Maine Coon cats are the sweetest little things. I have a black maine coon who think she is a dog and its absolutely adorable. She is also very nice to everyone she meets. The only cons are big cat = big poop :/

For instance now, my kitten (14 weeks or so) has started scratching my girlfriends legs and face and has become a bit of a cunt despite being the sweetest thing prior.
