You can hurt something even if they don't feel pain or emotions.

For me it's mainly the thought that if I get too close to one, I'll crush it by accident and get its remains stuck on me. The more fragile or the bigger-eyed the animal is, the worse it is. Craneflies, for instance, I'm especially scared of. They're erratic and look built as sturdily as a house of cards.
This has also extended to pretty much any baby animal you can fit in your hand as of late.

Yeah. I don't kill insects out of respect mostly but also that their remains being on you is disgusting.
I hate dead insects more than live ones.
