I've grown a recent fondness for reptiles. I don't really want to own one so where's the best place to see or handle them for a short time?

Do you have a science museum nearby? The one around here has educational events every now and then where they let the public hold and touch various reptiles and tarantulas.

A lot of zoos and museums have scheduled programs where the animals are taken out so people can touch them, but they rarely let you actually hold them. Some reptile shows are good for this, but they're there for people purchasing animals and some have rules about not letting people handle their animals. The best case scenario would be asking a friend with reptiles if you could handle their pets.
