Let's talk about the most most amazing birds (from an evolutionary point of view)
>>
Isn't it weird how there are no livebearing birds?

There are fish, reptiles and amphibians who do, and there's egg laying mammals, but no such exceptions among birds.

No really. Moreover, there is many types of strategies (regarding eggs) among birds. For example, superprecocial birds. Like the amazing maleo and others megapodes.

Enjoy Aepypodius and others megapodes. It's one of the easiest way of imagine non-avian dinosarus 8like with cassowaries).

what does that mean?

Seriemas are related to a group formed by passerines, parrots and falcons.

There are 2 species and are a smaller version of terror birds. They are from the same lineage.

I know fuckall about bird phylogeny, it's the one group I really have no fucking idea about.

So tell me, where do the morph and gene people disagree and why?
>>
The third most nomerpus group after passerines and hummingbirds, are doves and relatives (Columbiformes).

And the most amazing lineage of columbiformes is the one of dodo, and their relatives like Nicobar pigeon, pheasanta pigeon, crowned pigeons, and the almost extinct tooth-billed pigeon,

Palaeognathae phylogeny
>>

Did flightlessness appear in 3 independent lineages? Or I'm getting something wrong?
>>
>>2315545
It did. Ratites only thrived in environments where there was a clear lack of predators, so thet lost the ability to fly many many times. It's a perfecy example of convergent evolution. In some places, like New Zealand, distant relatives like the kiwi and the moa both lost the ability to fly in the same place. We even found kiwi ancestor fossils with wings in Oligocene New Zealand.
I find this sort of thing absolutely fascinating.
