We had 30 Nene Geese in Hawaii, and now we're up to 2,000 something or other. I digress though, geese are arguably a lesser challenge to breed then medium sized cetaceans in an isolated, dangerous body of water. Genetic bottleneck is a major problem, but it can possibly be worked around.
