Found a rapidly drying up puddle of them when I was around 8. I tried rescuing one with a net and the thing growled at me and tore open my net. Scared me. We had a manmade pond around here with a lock that opened up to the MO river. They got in the pond and now the only thing that's in there is gar and turtles, I assume because they ate everything else.

Predators like gar mostly eat the shitty fish and theleft over predatory fish are usually bigger and healthier. If you see people killing gar for no reason ask them if they would rather catch one huge base or 20 starving bass
