Go to the shelter and adopt a pit bull/mix.

Dobermans aren't scary in personality. They're super clingy and affectionate. If bred in the US they are also specifically bred to have minimal aggressive traits.

But then again i don't find any flavour of doggo to be scary so i dunno. I get much more nervous around large mammals like horses that can cause damage if they get spooked by something.

Nah you're right, dobermans are only intimidating in the way they look. And with their ears left natural they're even less scary.

Personality wise, they're clingy and affectionate although kind of dumb, like they have a hard time grasping things.
