Nice image. Glad I'm an ant.

>native fish

I'm pretty sure all fish are native to somewhere, op. You've gotta be more specific.

For the purposes of this board native is something non-invasive you could scoop out of your respective area and is not likely to be sold in an average pet store.

No need to limit an already tiny hobby to just North America or Europe.

>tiny hobby
The fish trade is bigger than even the reptile trade
>>
>>2298250
You mean native to specific anons areas?
>>
>>2298255
Native fish keeping is a tiny hobby, smart ass.

Florida gar native to well North America. In my grow out tank. The tetras are just sliver tip tetra. Don't see em much.
>>
>>2298262
Are you worried it will eat the tetras eventually? The gars are cool fish. Spotted gar live as far North as the Great lakes.

Not at this moment. The tetras aren't even full grown. In my 6x2 I have a bichir who's a bit bigger than him and has a big mouth so letting the gar grow a bit before he goes in so no chance he will get eaten. I probably could but I don't wanna risk it. I really wanna alligator gar but they get far too big. Eventually gonna do a all native tank of fish native to my area in Michigan. A start of a old native tank.

Creek chubs as that was the only thing in this small river next to my house. It dries to low levels and they seem to be the only ones who survive it.

Though I'm happy to see more fish last year. There were bluegills! Haven't seen them in forever in this river but sad to see it dry up and some died. Pic related is the river at its highest in a while. Still only waist deep. Also forgot to mention return of some spiny soft shell. Kept trying to steal my bait at night when I was fishing. The creek chubs were biting like crazy. Wew lad sorry for the long post. I enjoy the native aquatic wild life.

Fuck I wish pet stores sold NA natives. They're fantastic.

Instead all we get are fathead minnows and flagfish.

This is another beautiful North American native, the war paint shiner

Feel free to post other images of native fish from your respective regions. No point in limiting this thread to just fish you have.

At work (PetSmart), during summer we frequently get native crayfish, green sunfush, and tadpoles (those might be invasive bullfrogs, though) in with the feeder goldfish shipments.

A guy took home a green sunfish to put in a 10 gallon tank for his son because he thought it was more interesting than a goldfish. Eight-ish months later it's still alive and the guy is talking about getting a 55 or 75 gallon tank for it.

Rainbow shiners are another good one.

Here's a hybrid I caught. Thought about going back this summer and trapping some for a 75.
