dog or wolf?
>>
Are you asking about the picture or which is better?

That's clearly a husky and dogs > wolves.

Anon...that's a fucking Husky

Goddamn

That's your average Siberian husky, just compare that photo to one of an actual wolf and the differences become so apparent.

this.

things to look for:
>smaller, heavily-furred ears
ears with little hair in them = not a wolf
>black lips, gums, nose, nails
if your dog has snow nose or clear/white nails it has no chance of being a wolf
>slanted, almond shaped eyes
dog eyes are straight-set
>amber/brown eyes
a wolf or wolf hybrid will never have blue eyes. no chance, never.
>no face mask
a wolf will not have a face mask like a husky does
>a visible precaudal scent gland on the tail like pic
wolves always have these; dogs with no wolf in them sometimes have them.
>straight-hanging, droopy tail
a wolf will never have a curly tail or one that curves over their back
>puppies
wolf and wolf hybrid puppies will always be greyish brown, no matter what color they turn as adults. even white arctic wolves start out grey and brown. they won't have distinctive markings at all.

Real wolf hybrids aren't the most majestic of animals. They actually have really weird faces. There's also high content and low content. Picture so you can see what I mean by they aren't majestic looking animals. They have really weird faces.

Anon's rules are largely for high content. You can have low content, but you likely wouldn't even realize it had wolf in it. Most of what I'm posting will be high content, but there will be low content. Hybrids don't actually look like huskies the majority of the time.

This one is low content if I remember. They also are prone to losing their coat in the summer, and growing it back in the winter, every single year. This is not the same as 'blowing the coat' seen with some domestic breeds.

This is a picture of the coat growth pattern. This happens every single year. It's not just getting mildly fluffier or blowing the coat at an undetermined, random time.
>>
>>2294719
Even low content dogs look more like wolves than dogs anon. You won't find anything that looks like a lab that isn't low/no content.

>>2294728
They do. I'm saying you can start to see short legs, blue eyes, and unnatural patterns in the low content mixes... but yes, they generally still have a undeniable look or other traits. (Splayed legs, black claws and gums, and that head shape.) Let's not get started on personality. Many are so timid, but can be aggressive in an instance.

I'm just making the point if it looks like a husky, it is a husky more then likely. There's also the hock appearance of the back legs that is often seen.

strange.jpg
38KB, 496x360px
This is an example of a strange mix. It doesn't look 'wolf', but it is a verified hybrid. People would likely think a plain husky was more 'wolfish' then this dog.
>>
File: blackgum.jpg (44KB, 640x425px) Image search: [Google]
blackgum.jpg
44KB, 640x425px
Generally, the rules apply. It's not a 100% guarantee though because genetics can lead to very strange looking animals, especially in low content mixes. (low content is more common then high content, high content is extraordinarily rare.)

This one was bred in a roadside zoo then left at the vet's office. Sad times.
>>
File: betterlife.jpg (84KB, 720x586px) Image search: [Google]
betterlife.jpg
84KB, 720x586px
This one was released from a breeder with 16 other dogs after he found himself in a pickle, unable to handle his resulting animals. 10 were released to other rescues, 5 were culled for unknown reasons (possibly health or aggression).
>>
File: Nowolf.jpg (32KB, 650x935px) Image search: [Google]
Nowolf.jpg
32KB, 650x935px
This dog is not a wolf dog at all! It was misrepresented as a wolf dog like many. So, just because it has a northern husky look, doesn't mean that it is a wolf at all.
>>

I take that back, they were not culled.
>>2294738
This is another result of the same breeder's failed experiments, this one has very little recent ancestry, it is extremely low content.
>>
File: midcontent.jpg (49KB, 650x355px) Image search: [Google]
midcontent.jpg
49KB, 650x355px
This one is actually mid-content despite it's domestic appearance. It was being sold as a 'breeding' animal. I'm done now, but I hope people aren't as confused by huskies now.

>furfag in one of my uni classes ranting about how mean and vicious pitbulls are, says they aren't suitable as pets
>in the next breath says that he wants a wolf/husky cross
>"they wouldn't be a danger to me though because I have the same type of personality as a wolf"
>"I think this hybrid is really beautiful"
>shows me a picture of a fucking shepherd/malamute mix
>talks the entire class period about a wolf hybrid he had growing up
>tfw we all know it was just a fucking husky
>he sees a pic of my AmStaff/husky cross on my lockscreen
>"oh is he a coyote mix?"
why /an/. why are they like this. and why do I have to sit next to his unshowered ass the whole fucking term
>>
>>2294769
Ranting about how vicious and mean pit bulls are, and then he wants a wolf hybrid. He should realize that while most seem timid, they can turn on people in a moment's notice. People often interpret their shyness and timid demeanor as friendly, and that's when they get bit. They can turn quicker on a stranger then any pit bull. He should come talk to me. I can tell him about when mine bit a fucking little boy who decided to stick his hand in a cage that it didn't belong.
>>
Also, they can be a danger wildlife. The majority of these animals will actually hunt, and they are quite good at it. They will attack birds, rabbits, and mice and then devour the body, leaving a half eaten carcass behind. They don't play very nice with the wildlife in most cases. It is not a sport or a mere interest to most of these animals, they actually enjoy going for the kill.

Husky, wolf, or hybrid?
>>
Been working with huskies for 3 months now. Can't stand them, can't stand their owners who dish out 60-100 for them to be groomed but won't put down the money for training. So dumb. Fucking meme dogs. No one should have huskies or GSDs if they can't afford a trainer.

Well, shit. It looked exactly like this black one except it didn't have white paws, the white on its face was frosted like the rest of it and it had a whiteish stripe down it's back. I never thought someone would prove me wrong.

D'awww

Are there any other breeds besides wolf hybrids and greyhounds that have something like those faces?

I think the really long snout is adorable
>>
>>2295080
If you zoom in they look light brown. I think it's just not the best photo
>>
My white trash neighbor used to have a wolfdog hybrid when I was a kid. She had a swing set and the dog used to sit behind the swingset and nip kids on the butts when they swung back. Really crabby for a dog.
It ended up biting a kid pretty badly and they gave it to her uncle so the authorities couldn't find it and euthanize it.

>>
>>2295080
Anon those eyes are clearly pale amber, not blue.
>>
>>2294996
Clearly a dog
>>
>>2295050
It's not so much how you train it but how much time and land you have to devote to it. They are originally bred to run and are not meant as companion animals. If you don't walk it for miles everyday or have acres upon acres of land for it to free roam, they will tear things up and get into huge amounts of mischief for no other reason then they are bored and frustrated. My neighbor has an excellent husky in an apartment situation, but it also goes on two hour walks every single day. He also never leaves it at the house alone unless he has to.
>>
>>2295183
it's really common in europe

they're awesome dogs
>>
>>2295080
Are you blind? How are you seeing blue eyes? They're yellow, the picture quality is just shit. Eyedropping them puts them in the yellow spectrum.
>>
>>2295088
>>2295183
If you're interested in those faces, the Tervueren, Groenendael and Laekenois have the same kind of faces. They're belgian shepherds too but with way different body types. They have about the same temperament as the Malinois, IIRC.
>>
>>2295190
Have 2, can confirm. Will fuck your life up if you don't wear them out. I love those dogs to pieces, but I admit, it did take me awhile to fully understand their needs. I can now leave them inside by themselves for an hour or 2. I leave them inside all night over night. They don't tear up anything anymore.
>>
>>2294717
I'm sure the bottom left inspired many furry costumes
