Is it against the rules to post pictures of dead or severely injured animals in /an/, even in a veterinarian or wildlife preservation context?
Like, how cool are you guys with nature footage and animals eating each other alive sometimes fully displayed?

We have feelings based moderation. Nothing you mentioned in your post is against any rule, but there is no telling what will or won't get deleted.
i got banned for a month for posting a google dream
I've seen a few threads here where people talk about topics like that. This board has some anons who hunt, or breed animals for food, or pick up roadkill for taxidermy. I'm pretty sure they've sometimes posted photos about these topics.
Footage of humans hurting animals is forbidden on /an/ because it's animal cruelty. Animals hurting other animals doesn't count under that definition, though. Right now, there's a thread like this up:

It's been up for over a week, so it looks like it's accepted. And I remember seeing some other threads like that where people post webms of predators hunting etc. I didn't pay attention to whether they were deleted or if they just 404'd normally, though.
Either way, sometimes a post might stay up despite clearly breaking the rules, or a post that seems acceptable might get deleted for unknown reasons. Depends on which janitors happen to be watching, I guess.

I posted a picture of a dead cat that had been ran over (which I see constantly) and was "banned" for a month. Not being ran over, not dying--just plain old dead. It was a legitimate thread too, I wanted to show as well as discuss the dangers cats face outdoors because of shit owners. It was probably by some up-tight faggot mod that keeps their cat outside and couldn't handle it when their cheeto crusted eyes had to see the potential outcome of their irresponsibility.
Oh! But you can shit post about killing cats, for fun, by the dozens, and nothing will happen. Fuckin autistic mods.
