First time /an/ poster. I want to get a greyhound, but my friend who is a CVT told me it wasn't a good idea because I have two cats already and apparently they might just snap and go after the cat? I was thinking about adopting an ex racing one, but she told me that even if I got a greyhound as a puppy that my cats would be at risk. Is this true? I've never raised a dog on my own before

Greyhound rescues usually do a test to see if the individual dog can tolerate cats. Some dogs pass and can be adopted into homes that also have cats, some don't.

Greyhounds can have a chase instinct, especially ones trained with live bait. Live bait training isn't common in America because there is no point in it for training and it's also really fucking difficult. It is more for sick fucks entertainment.
While they may chase cats, a lot of it will end at chasing. Dog sees cat run, dog runs after it, cat stops, dog stops, dog has no clue what to do with itself. That being said even chasing behavior can be undesirable. Go to a local greyhound rescue and see if they have any compatible with cats. Forewarning, a dog that is ok with cats indoors may not be ok with them outdoors. Some dogs think rules change when outside

Greyhounds have really high prey drives and the cats should probably be kept separately at all times. High prey drive dogs are known to snap when seeing smaller, running animals. I wouldn't risk it
