So i have a bunch of fish. I found 1 new male guppie dead with no tail fin and a female i had for a long time dead the same way. I thought it might be disease at first but the other 4 guppies are fine.

I have 2 zebra danios, 7 gouramis, 4 blue rams, 3 xray tetra, 1 glass catfish, 6 black skirt tetra, some ghost shrimp, 3 mystery snails, and 2 small plecos.

Thoughts on the cluprit? Pic related, my set up.

>that overstocking
Probably ammonia poisoning
>>
that is some fucked up stocking. how large is the tank?

I'd say it's probably one of the gourami, but pretty much any fish can become nippy especially when they aren't in full schools. I wouldn't rule out disease though, can you test the water?
>>
>>2271759
Yeah i can. Ill do a full test. I followed the rule of 1 inch per gallon.
>>
>>2271754
Doesn't explain the cheewed up tails

Fucking kek this has to be b8

Ammonia test is 0ppm. Makes sense. Aquarium has been up and running for 9 months. Also, did a 50% water change yesterday. Found the 2 dead fish this morning and afternoon.
>>
>>2271762
it's not really a strict rule. fish have different needs- some are aggressive, some need schools or they get stressed and nippy. it's always important to make sure your fish are compatible- try finding caresheets. I'd also try plugging your stocklist in at aqadvisor dot com.

the gouramis you have get about half a foot and can be fairly aggressive.
>>
>>2271766
50% is a huge water change and can actually fuck up your fish if the water from the tap is very different from the water in the tank. try to stick to 30% unless it's an emergency..

Nitrite is good as well. The filter has been cycled for a while now.

I'll do that. I noticed the gourami males can be aggressive but mostly amongst each other and occasionally with the females as well. They are a little less than 4 inches long and are by far the longest fish in there. Pic related. Gold male.

Got a good point. My gravel vacuum came in and i might gone overboard with it. By the time i finished cleaning the gravel i was down 50% of my water capacity. Pic related. Before on the right and after on the left. Vacuum worked well.

Nitrate reading about 10-20ppm. Not bad either.

I haven't had any aeration since the inception of this aquarium. Maybe thats it. I added about 10 fish in the last 2 weeks.
>>
>>2271754
Overstocked? That's fucking bullshit. His tank looks fine. You autists are real nitpicky.
>>
>>2271840
we don't know how large the tank is...

I adjusted the water outflow to increase aeration. I'm not sure i need it with all my live plants.

naw, oxygen isn't going to be an issue.

I plugged your stocking into aqadvisor for ya.
>>
>>2271856
Fuck. I guess i did go overboard with my fish stock. I'll try to donate some to a friend. Most likely getting rid of the black skirt tetras.

Got a more exact picture. The pleco's potential growth is throwing off the numbers. My guys are barely 2 inches.
>>
>>2271866
the danios, glass cats, and tetras are all schooling fish. that means you generally need 5 or more for them to be happy and healthy. you should either rehome them, or add more. some schoolers can be very nippy if not kept in large enough numbers.

the gouramis will each get half a foot and are fairly agressive when fully grown. they will bully each other and eat anything that will fit in their mouths. most people don't keep more than one gourami: there's a few species that are more peaceful but those aren't.

rams are generally peaceful but need to be kept either singly, or in the right male female ratios. you'll want to make sure you have only one male. they can also be aggressive when breeding.

common plecos grow to be over a foot, so I'd find out what kind of plecos you have. some would be just fine, others are going to grow fuckhuge and eat everything you love.
>>
>>2271873
unless you're planning on getting a new tank, you need to take their potential growth into account.
>>
>>2271875
Good point. I'd probably re-home them before they get too large.

>>2271874
I actually had 5 danios. 3 were eaten by a bichir i used ot have. I see your point about schooling fish though.
Gouramis are pretty docile with other fish. they do chase and peck at their own kind.
I have two pairs of rams and they seem to have paired off. Not sure how to tell females/males apart.
The plecos are indeed common. I've seen some huge ones at my local fish store. Definitely too big for this tank.
>>
Glass cat is dead. Same as before. No tail fin, no signs of bullying. At least not until it turned up dead. The other fish seem perfectly fine.

One of my dwarf gourami started exhibiting discoloration and eroded fins. I figured out its a fungal/bacterial disease and have started treatment. Unluckily, he was too far gone. But it looks like the rest will be safe. Thanks for the help.

Pic is of the sick gourami. He showed the most advanced stages while the other fish are showing very minor indications of fin rot.

Thanks to those that helped.
>>
>>2271752
1 inch per gallon isnt enough, you have like 3 male colisas ? "2 small pleco" I hope it's a ancestrus bc plecos will be 10 inches long.
Anyway It's too full ! 1in/gallon is for little tetras.
So, zebra danios should be 6 min, same for rams, tetras etc. Gouramis should be 2/3 max (1 male and 1/2 females)
That's a really beautiful tank but your fishes will die 1 by 1
Not worth

I was almost impressed that you managed to grow such nice rotala with a stock LED fixture.

Almost.
