Because it is not something of the nature of this animal called "dog". It seems that the wolves have undergone a disgusting and sad mutation. The human species is really a biological pest. I've had my dog chocolate eat before when I wasn't looking and he was fine.

The whole chocolate thing is blown out of proportion imho don't they need to eat like pounds of 98% dark chocolate to actually die?

chocolate is poisonous to humans too. The difference is most people won't eat half their body weight of dark chocolate in one setting like dog can and will.

Depends on the dog's weight and lots of people have little yippy dogs.
I have a feeling blowing it out of proportion may be intentional, because I could see an idiot intentionally feeding their dog chocolate because "a little bit won't hurt, and Bitsy likes it, don't you Bitsy-boo!!1!".
