Hey /an/ons.
So my favorite lil chicken, Cordelia, was attacked by a hawk today
Had a grip on her head, real hard. When I tried to separate them, wouldnt let go and the poor girl was hanging for a moment before we got it away
Cordelia (the chicken) wont open her eyes now, could it be possible that they're swollen shut or that she's just in pain?
Should I prepare for the worst?
pic semi-related, what Cordelia looks like

shock, broken ribs. hungry hawk returning for your other birds because it is still hungry. break her neck and set her out for the hawk. cover your run better.

The hope is that shes kept alive

Thats the plan- I plan on getting chicken wire tomorrow

It could be either, there's no way for us to know. Take her to a vet if you care.

No vet in the area will take chickens
Chickens often go into shock after an event like that. Make sure she is around other chickens, and kept warm. Shock alone can kill chickens, they can stay in the state for days before dying.
