It's mouth is open because it is hot, basically it's panting like a dog. My chickens do the same thing.

I don't know why it was vibrating though at the end. I searched around on google and found a thread describing something similar, the guy said it was normal for hawks but he didn't know why either.

I've seen that too.

But what that gif really reminds me of is that movie I watched about an isolated town in Alaska that had a ridiculously high suicide rate, even for Alaska. But the really freaky part is that all of the people who committed suicide kept having nightmares about owls outside of their bedroom windows, staring at them. Then the local psychologist went off the deep end and started believing that the owls were actually extraterrestrials that the people consciously remembered as owls because their true memories of being experimented on were too traumatic and their subconscious minds morphed the faces into something familiar in order to cope with the horror of it all.

I will never see a barn owl ever again without seeing a grey alien underneath those feathers.

It's the eyes, man. Those solid black eyes.

Im not one of those dominance faglords, but showing teeth is a sign of aggression in dogs. just look at the ear movement of the dog. it's clearly slightly nervous about that teeth-display

None of you people have ever been around dogs, have you? The dog knows not to harm the little human. A very subtle gesture will not set it off. Attacking it might... but that's what I mean. If the dog doesn't have a history of violence it's basically guaranteed nothing will happen.

noone here said anything about the dog attacking the kid. at most someone said the dog was getting uncomfortable. however, if you are saying its okay to leave toddler unattended with dogs you're retarded. a young child doesnt understand that a dog can be a serious threat to their life, and might do something stupid like poke them in the eye, hard.

I never said anything of the sort. Im this anon >>2263924

I merely pointed out that that "smile" was making the dog a bit uncomfortable. (It was a very teethy smile, too)
clearly dogs can learn that humans showing teeth doesnt mean aggression, but I suspect it's still weird for them, because that's a natural facial expression for them and they have to ignore the original meaning of it

>>

>implying the child isn't fully supervised by the person holding the fucking camera.

How stupid do you have to be?
>>
>>2264335
Yeah, I know there is a difference between nightmares and full on sleep paralysis, re read my post and you will notice I clearly separated the two different experiences I have had with capital letters.

For me, sleep paralysis is a pretty dreamless state. But my dreams are so damn weird, and at times outright terrifying, that I personally prefer it when I'm just paralyzed.
>>
>>2264341
I don't really see how the way you put it together implied that you weren't still talking about sleep paralysis, especially since nightmares weren't really relevant. But moving on.
What do you dream about that's so bad? I don't really have nightmares. I have had anxiety dreams that are sort of nightmares in the sense that I would much rather have dreams full of fear. Especially since it's usually a continuation of something that haunts in the day. It is just so stressful going to bed and not being able to escape this awful, overwhelming feeling even in your dreams...
When I had sleep paralysis I always saw something, there was never a time where I just laid there. So that's interesting.
>>
>>2264353
My dreams are never really the same, they are always different. I used to keep a dream journal a few years ago, but stopped for various reasons. Some of the things I wrote down immediately after waking up scared me when I would come back to read it with a clear head.

Sometimes they are just weird, more than anything else. When I was younger I had a dream where I was jumping around in a playground, and the jumps continued to escalate until I was flat out flying like superman. That was it, the dream wasn't even interesting in that it was about flying, it ended shortly after I successfully managed to fly. It was just about the playground.

And then take my latest dream, it was about some kind of red skinned demon trying to come out of my closet. I had one of those wine bottle opener thingies, held in my fist, the metal corkscrew thingy sticking out between my fingers. When the demon managed to open my closet door enough to stick his hand through I stabbed it in the palm, basically punched it, with the wine opener. But the things fists were huge, and it wrapped it's claws around my fist, hard enough to bleed. That's when it went from weird to scary. After I started bleeding I could hear my own voice screaming in my head, "You fed him your blood!" over and over again. That's what terrified me, not my closet door being a gateway to another dimension. Not a demon trying to kill me. My own voice, filled with horror.

Yeah, compared to shit like that happening on a regular basis, being stuck unable to move for a short while is no where near as bad.

Fucking this. Like speech, there is more to body language then one single act. Context and a combination of things is important. Dogs smile, and it's creepy but bared teeth isn't always a bad thing. If the dog got tense and wrinkled it's nose or started growling, then yeah probably bad news bears but that clearly isn't happening in that instance. Dogs smile but they don't have lip muscles like we do so it's just different. Dogs also don't think seeing a human's teeth is aggressive. They recognize tons of facial expressions, including nonaggressive showing of teeth.

>Long story short, sister moved back in with parents for a few months, I always come visit every Saturday morning
>Sister kicks her dogs out of her room so she can sleep in
>Dog comes toddling up the stairs, still sleepy
>Comes around the corner and sees me sitting there
>Say 'Good morning, Janis.'
>She sleepily wags her tail, smiles showing her teeth and comes waddling over for butt scratchings
>It's so cute I can't help but to grin myself, showing my teeth
>She doesn't care, she just wants butt scratches.

It was the cutest, most sleepy smile I have ever seen. She wasn't being aggressive. She was straight up happy to see me and vice versa.
>>
>>2265185
Awe. That dog sounds great. I have a very awkward, small mutt that shows her teeth sometimes when she is tired and is getting attention. She is really delicate with her body language and whatnot, no cute waddling or tail wagging like you described heh.

This.

People tend to attribute human behaviors onto animals without understanding that animals have their own sets of behaviors.

Even primates, the most closely-related animals to humans, see bared teeth as a sign of aggression. Too many people have been all "Oh look, he's smiling and happy, I'll just approach him and-" only to have their face ripped off by an ape because the ape was trying to say "BACK THE FUCK OFF OR I'LL FUCK YOUR SHIT" the only way it knew how.

It's the reason most people assume dogs are more friendly than cats. Just because dogs' mouths naturally curve in a way that looks like they're always smiling whenever they open their mouth, it doesn't mean they are perpetually happy. That's just what their mouth looks like.

It's always so depressing and cringey seeing people dress their dogs up in retarded constricting costumes and playing what amount to mean-spirited games and teasing their dogs, and being able to tell that those dogs are depressed and confused as fuck, while the owners are all "NO, IT'S OKAY HE LOVES IT, HERE WATCH: COME ON DOGGER, JUST... COME ON! YOU LOVE DOING THIS ALL THE TIME! JUST... GET... COME ON!" Then their dog snaps at them and they laugh it off saying that it happens all the time and that Dogger is just shy or in a bad mood.

Lots of dog owners are retarded. Actually, let me rephrase that. Lots of pet owners are retarded. They just want a living creature that hangs on their every word and action and is completely subservient and praises them just for being the master. Then they go on to have kids and expect the same deal. People really should be audited before being allowed to reproduce or own intelligent pets.
>>
>>2264827
No, they don't bare teeth so much as let their jaws gape. "Baring teeth" in dog language is a snarl. When the entire upper lip is pulled back, and in the case of wolves, they flick their tongue out almost like a snake.

Letting their jaws gape is entirely different.

A human smile is far too different than a dog smile/gaping jaw. When we smile our upper lip is pulled back too far, due to how flat our faces are. You see far too much of our big pearly white upper teeth.
>>
>>2265305
The most amazing thing I ever learned was from Jeff Corwin, and that among baboons, slowly blinking your eyes, or yawning, are both huge signs of aggression.

I repeat, slowly BLINKING and YAWNING will get your face torn off by an angry baboon.

As a result, most baboons have strangely colored eyelids and gumlines (in comparison to the rest of the pigment in their skin) to highlight this behavior when they do choose to be aggressive.
>>
>>2265230
>"Now you listen to me, you furry little fuck..."
>>
>>2265396
Trust me, I've seen the dog smile and it's definitely baring teeth and not letting their jaws gape. It might signify discomfort but it's definitely not aggressive. Maybe it's awkwardness. I don't think that body language is as well deciphered as we like to think.

You have to be at the perfect distance and speed to get into this orbit. You are being pulled by the gravity, BUT you always "miss" the earth because the speed that takes you forward and the force that pulls you down are a perfect match to keep the circular orbit.

Example of an asteroid that had too much speed(too big to post here): https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-IB2pWCpVjF8/UvfNsAfgKuI/AAAAAAAAVVY/qM2iEunXN-k/w506-h380/j002e3d.gif

You're right technically. Both the spacestation and its occupants are under constant influence of gravity. The orbit path is essentially as >>2267845 notes, falling at an angle. So why are the occupants "weightless"? Compare it to those planes where you can achieve 0 G in. They drop down to earth at a speed that would match your own falling speed. Therefore, you appear weightless in the plane, because your relative speed towards the plane is more or less 0. Relative to earth though, you're falling like a brick. The same applies in the space station, the station itself and its occupants are all being equally affected by gravity and moving at the same speed. Once again, the relative speed of the occupants compared to the station is more or less 0.

>But wouldn't a large object accelerate differently from small objects?
In the vacuum of space, no. Air friction is what causes that on earth, but in a vacuum there's no air friction.

How the fuck does that scorpion manage to sting anything?
>>
>>2263583
He's being a fucking ass. He catches snakes in the wild, brings them home, then rips out their fangs and deliberately keeps them locked up in a room just cold enough to make them too slow and weak to bite him when their fangs start to grow back. Then he rips out their fangs all over again. He also starves them, too.

All so he can be an awesome "snake charmer"

That's why he's strutting around in there and slapping them around. Because he knows they can't defend themselves by biting him.
>>
>>2272713
Or better yet, get a syringe and inject his rat with a shit ton of beer.
>>
>>2272865
You're a fucking idiot. We had to use diapers on my sister's miniature doberman pinscher because my sister was too stupid/lazy to get her fixed and she would bleed all over the place.

My cat pretty much does what the dog does if there's nobody at home for more than a few hours.
If I come home from work and stay in the driveway long enough, he comes to the window and starts meowing really loudly until I come in and pick him up.
