What does/an/ think about Planet Earth II? Seems pretty good so far.
That Iguana/Snake bit is some of the best nature footage I've ever seen. Especially that one rolling shot where the followed the iguana around the corner with the snakes chasing him. amazing.
When/where is it airing?
>>2259925
The first episode just aired in Britain last night. American release is on January 28th.
>>2259914
What the shit, is this staged?
>>2259928
It's a composite chase made from filming multiple iguanas trying to outrun the snakes. Every nature documentary does it.

With sound.
The snakes just keep pouring out.
>>2259927
Thanks based anon
>>2259928
The snakes were played by Andy Serkis.
Daniel Day Lewis played the iguana.
>>2259927
HAH!
You get pokemon sun and moon early. But i get planet earth II.
AND IM KEEPING THE KIDS.
>>2259952
its not on Discovery Channel though. They are full tilt reality tv bullshit now. BBC America is where its gonna be.
>>2259927
please no oprah, please no oprah
>>2259914
Nope
>>2259914
It was fucking epic. Don't be surprised if it didn't impress the autistic kids in 4chan.

Watching it right now. Best nature camera work I've ever seen. We're so good at filming and documenting life but terrible at preserving it.

It's hard to do anything when large companies own what you can and cant do
desu famalam made me wanna cry when they showed the lemar thing with his mum
Fake and gay like the old ones
>>2260160
>old ones
>only two
>anon is this retarded
>>2259914
I was reading an interview with the BBC folks about this segment. Allegedly the snakes don't hunt as a pack, they're all totally independent. Sometimes they even eat each other. That lack of coordination is probably what led to the Iguana wriggling free.
>>2259966
Wait, do they redub it for the US? Why?
It was amazing. Holy shit. I was like a little kid again.
>>2260132
Pretty crap. Would've been good if they had waited to start the music until the iguana started running.
>>2259914
It's a planet so filthy for so long that its bacteria even diversified and formed civilizations.
>>2260331
They did for the first one, for whatever stupid reason. David's voice is like a drug. He makes you feel like you're there sometimes.
>>2260150
this
was super pissed when i was the the Galapagos doc to learn that people had built cities on the islands
of all the places, why there
seems one of the most important places on earth to preserve
too much music and emotions
not enough information for my taste
did not like the narrators voice
great pictures though so i still enjoyed watching

It's fucking amazing. Cannot wait for the next episode. The racer snakes had me holding my breath.

>Not liking David Attenborough
What the fuck is wrong with you?
>>2260331
We have no idea what "centigrade" means and metric system is for commies.
We also have to cut out parts for political reasons. Discovery didn't have Alec Baldwin dub the climate change episode of Frozen Planet and almost didn't even show the Attenborough version because they didn't want to piss off republicans.
>>2259914
This confuses me. Why are these snakes hunting in packs? Can anyone explain pls
>>2260912
>Why are these snakes hunting in packs?
They're not, its every snake for itself
>>2259927
>January 28th
The hell? Why such a long wait? It's not like they have to translate it for us.
I hope someone makes a thread then because I know I'll forget.

>>2259929
It's only like two or three clips, so even if thats true it's still fucking awesome.
>that shot of it jumping the gap while the snake struck and while it was falling down that hole

Full thing. i'm honestly surprised at the amount of movies you can find by searching "google docs -movie name-.
Just make sure not to click the download links. The legit ones will have the video embedded.
>>2261659
thank you based anon
>>2261662
No problem. January's a long way to go.
Is this airing weekly?
>>2260783
>did not like the narrators voice
I got bad news for you, then, anon
Attenborough is pretty much the go-to for major nature documentaries
>>2259914
In four years It'll be planet fracked by Mitch Mconnel
>>2260151
You sound pretty retarded considering you're using the internet to say that, anon.
>>2262152
Ah, yes. Let's use THE INTERNET to stop Fortune 500 companies from depleting the Earth of its resources. What a wonderful idea! I wonder why no one ever thought of that before?
>>2260783
>did not like the narrators voice
I bet you like that obnoxious voice from the NatGeo videos
>>2260783
>Did not like the narrators voice
fucking kys you yanky cunt. Like many other brits if a national history documentary ISNT done by SDA then we cant watch it.
>>2259927
episode one is on the piratebay for non-UK fags
>tfw don't have to get a tv license
>>2259914
Just watched it an hour ago, the iguana scene you just posted was probably my favorite but the whole thing was incredible. Another part I enjoyed was the Komodo dragons, even though I think the added sound effects they do for some shots are annoying.
the swimming iguanas were cool as fuck, best part of this episode
>>2261669
yeah, new episode tonight here in britain
>>2262882
how quickly do you think it'll be up on the pirate bay or something? is there any way someone that isn't British could watch it live?
>>2259914
Came here to post about it.
it's on RIGHT NOW, hot bear solo action going on.
It's great. Top quality.
how can i watch episode 2 rn
>>2263195
On BBC website if you're a Britbong.
If not, torrents are your friends.
>>2262152
?? anon made a totally fair assessment, it is true: to say that "we" have to do smth to save the nature is stupid considering probably nobody here in this thread owns a piece of the jungle, its owned by private individuals, and they decide what to do with it. nothing to be so butthurt about kid.
>>2260783
>did not like the narrators voice
Pleb
>watching episode 2
>bobcat pomf into the snow
didnt expect a nature documentary to make me laugh
>>2260951
Because they need to tap some celebrity to make cringeworthy "awesome" commentary instead of the original narrator, plus change the minor amounts of peaceful, non-distracting music into reality-show tier schlock.
>>2261659
Thanks so much man
>>2261048
underrated
Episode 2 was kind of "meh".
The Ibex/Fox chase wasn't as good as the Iguana/Snake and I don't give a fuck about snow leopords.
Bobcat and EAGLE FIGHT were cool as shit though.

"Cities" in the galapagos not what it means in a developed mainland country. Only three islands have permanent inhabitants, and only one of those has more than dirt roads and tiny grocery stores. The vast majority of the islands are inaccessible without an official guide (who are very knowledgeable in the wildlife and conservation of the islands). People are also not allowed to live there unless they were born there or marry someone who was born there. It's not perfect but conservation is a huge priority there
