Location: New Zealand, lower North Island
Date: April (so autumn for us)
I'm mostly concerned about the berries on it, as one of my dogs was very interested in them and I had to stop him eating them several times.

I think so. Leaves surrounding it were about 2.5inches. Never seen an animal poo like this though if it is poop.
