this.

they don't attack unless provoked.
>>
>>2244311
>they don't attack unless provoked.
And even if you accidentaly walk to close to a nest - how hard is it to fight off an animal that's less than 10% of your mass? People just see a hissing bird and they're scared shitless.
>>
>>2244314
you can walk by their nests without being attacked if you don't start flapping around like you've got spasms.

don't forgot more than half of /an/ is female though, they wouldn't even be able to fight off a wasp.

If we keep killing off all the docile species, the only species left will be the ones that scare us more than we scare them. Geese, emus, wasps, spiders, pit bulls, bears, snakes, etc.
>>
>>2244281
They are birds anon, their psychology is completely alien to us mammals. Most birds probably dont even see thing wrong with shitting on your head, and theres even evidence that crows might be trolls.
>>
>>2244319
Happened today, I was ashamed
>>
>>2244315
How do you fight off a wasp?
>>
>>2244409
You don't. You just be very still and step on it when you get the chance provided you're wearing shoes.

We had a wasp nest in the garden wall about 10ft from our front door for about a month before we got the exterminator in. As long as you actually aren't stupid, you can walk past them just fine with no issues.
>>
>>2244309
100% true. The human race as a whole is self intiteld to an extreme.

It's almost like they can't understand that an animal has no clue what your intentions towards it could be, and if it dares to try and make you fuck off because you were poking it with a stick everyone goes on about how "Geese are mean because I wanted to pet its babies"

holy shit, post tits ladies!

There's a shit ton of geese alway walking around my Walmart. There's a large shallow pond and a gated one. The geese and ducks mingle. I one started hissing at me and without thinking about it I hissed back and it ran and people were staring.
>>
>that time I saw a goose attack a guy in our campus quad and he grabbed it by the neck and hurled it against some stairs

If one ever goes after me hopefully I have the mustard to do that.

I always hiss back and put my arms out. I established dominance at my pond and can roam freely. Now only if I could fertilize the eggs.
>>
>>2245146
just stand your ground and they usually back off.

they're easy to catch and eat when they've got eggs.
>>
>>2245150
I won't eat them or the eggs. I just like watching them chill with my ducks and chickens.

They know that they can't win. Geese don't even eat meat but they have razor sharp teeth and fucking teeth on their tongue just for fucking shit up.
>>
>>2244281
Because they know they can get away with literally anything since they're legally protected.
>>
>>2244281
Because they need to build momentum before they fly off, they cannot realistically fly away from a threat. As such, they are more aggressive in order to bluff predators away.
>>

Because people let them be. They wouldn't be assholes if you wouldn't run away from them and just smack the shit out of them when they tried to chase you. And don't start about how tough geese are. They are not, compared to humans, and it's stupid to say they are.
>>
Can you domesticate Canada geese? I really want one. I think they're really hot.
>>
They're the only birds that remember what it's like to be a dinosaur.
>>
>>2244281
I feed the geese at my local park, usually with bread. they will gently eat it out of my hand every time or they don't get any. This trains them to be sociable and polite. I can walk up to their goslings and hold out bread, they will let me right into their group and let the little ones stand right up on my feet. It's all about body language and positive reinforcement. I don't get why people are mean to geese. I would gladly keep geese as pets, they are so smart compared to ducks... every time I feed them I am surrounded by hundreds of geese and they never start shit with me, they can sense my body language and kindness. If geese are mean to you it's probably because everyone in the area has been mean or aggressive to them. In areas where people treat them kindly they quickly learn that people are nice and don't have to be attacked.
>>
>>2246185
I know you're a goose in disguise.
>>
I actually have ptsd because of geese. Not even kidding, I was like 4 years old and my mom took me to the park where an army of geese had claimed ownership. She decided it would be funny for me to feed the geese so I had some torn up pieces of bread. I'm hoping at the very least to tame one of them if not take control of the army of geese myself.

Once I'm out of bread though, the fucking assholes get angry at me. three of the bigger geese start hovering in the air and biting at me, another half dozen start eating at my shirt.

I'm crying my eyes out, I managed to fight about half the geese off before I'm hit from behind by a tidal wave. The geese called in reinforcements. They herd me over to the edge of the water and I fall in.

This is where things get fucked. Geese land all around me and start biting at my face. One of them bit me in the eye so I'm effectively blind. I remember screaming for help and my mother running to help me, but the geese drug me underwater and I passed out.

Woke up in the hospital a week later. They had to put me into a medically induced coma. Brain damage, lost my fucking right eye, hypothermia and serious mental trauma that persists to this day.

I'd like to know as well.
Old world geese (for the most part) have been domesticated and some are docile.

-Can you raise Canadian geese domestically?

-Can domesticated geese fly?

-Are there cases of people interbreeding Canadian Geese with Old-world Geese(African, Chinese, etc.)

They're just looking out for themselves. If a stranger just cane into your house would you sit there and let him do whatever or chase him off?
