Using selective breeding over many generations, would it be possible to create domestic bears?

We call them slavs.

They would still be dangerous unless bred down in size. Otherwise you're just creating Ovcharkas but larger. The real problem with domesticating bears is getting around their solitary nature. Dogs naturally adapted to us because they're pack animals and could be bred to accept us as pack leaders. Bears don't have packs or leaders and every other bear is a competitor for food and mates so it's hard to see how one could breed into them an acceptance of our dominance.

Rasputin and bear is easily one of the coolest pics I've seen today, thanks OP

Breed them down to a smaller size, they learn to walk on hind legs more often to see counter top, sell them as teddy bears
Have you seen a brown Newfoundland dog? They're the closest thing we have to a pet bear.
