I just bought a fairy castle from a grocery store, how do I know if the flower on it is fake or not? If it's fake should I pull it off or will that only hurt it more?
Also, how do I get my zygo to bloom? It's been three years and all she's been doing is getting bigger.

>how do I know if the flower on it is fake or not?
You should see glue on the bottom. Various other things indicate it too if the glue isn't obvious.
Glued flowers can damage cacti when removed.
Are there any species of cacti that don't have thorns?

Succulents!

I grew up in the dessert, but those cactus do have flowers and in many colors, they blossom on certain years, some cactus only grow when there is enough water and some only blossom when there's no water at all, some can take many years, like in a hundread years.
Study about yours to find out.
Here is one of my favorite cactus from where I grew up, a Browningia Candelaris.

By not being braindead?

That's pretty wicked looking. The Marie Selby Botanical garden in Sarasota FL has one of those in their desert section.
Much smaller though.

I'm not aware of any cacti that has thorns or any that don't have spines but there are definitely tons of species which don't have prominent spines if that's what you are asking. Sadly or luckily depending on whether you are a hobbyist, most of those species are either rare, hard to grow or slow growing especially from seed.

IMO real cactus flowers are far more beautiful and majestic than any fake you will normally find glued on.
As for your zygo's not blooming, do you let them have a drop in temperature along with a gradual decrease in water? zygocactus are incredibly easy to flower though even at a young age.
Besides certain orchids and asclepiadoideae, no other plant flower can match the beauty of cacti.

Astrophytum

>someone mentions the botanical gardens from your town

>this specific species is spiky, so all the dozens of more common spineless species/hybrids don't exist
How do you function in daily life, if you struggle so hard to understand what generalisation is?
>>2224402
Spiny:
>A. capricorne
>A. senile
>A. ornatum
not spiny:
>A. myriostigma
>A. asterias
>A. coahuilense
It's a shit generalisation if it doesn't apply to literally half the species.
