What language do crows think in?
Those fuckers are smart as fuck, they can plan shit out multiple steps at a time and they can use tools to help them get what they want.

If I had to be an animal I'd be a crow.
>>
One thing I've learned is that you don't want to mess with crows.
The next time you know it your wallet is gone!
>>
I never thought about what an animal sounds like to itself when thinking. Do dogs think in barks, birds in chirps/caws/screaming? Or it is all visual?
>>
>>2215653
I don't even know how that works in humans. It's very often that you have a meaning/feeling and you're searching for the proper word to express it.
>>
>>2215646
>>2215653
Language is helpful when creating complex thoughts, but it isn't necessary for simpler thoughts and actions. While listening to music, you can be cooking yourself dinner without a single word of dialogue running through your head. That's an action of comparable complexity to what crows can do.
>>
>>2215658
Hm yeah come to think of it I don't hear anything when I'm even trying to think of a sound.

>>2215662
Is that still considered thinking even if you think you aren't thinking about what you're doing? Or is thinking just an aware action(thinking about a dog as opposed to me putting my keys in the fridge instead of the milk), for the lack of better words.

Crows have been taught to collect trash and deposit it in special vending machines. They get paid in seeds for their clean-up work.

Talk about crowdsourcing the labour for your litter problem. Or should I say...CROWdsourcing.

If this is true then that's seriously awesome

This is a pretty genius use of animals for labor. Imagine a huge flock of crows swooping in after mardi gras to pick the place up.
>>
>>2216311
>>2216507
This. That'd be awesome.

Though I also imagine them stealing shit from people and throwing not-trash in unless someone controlled it. Even if they learned only trash works and someone doesn't have to control it anymore theyd eventually realize they can go back to putting in anything.

You thiink if Crows were taught to read a clock and know what it represents (seems like a plausible thing for them to learn) they'd start scheduling their life activities to be precisely at certain times and whatnot?

A lot of towns (in Europe at least) have churchbells ring the hour. Crows could count the bell tolls to know what time it is. Might be easier than having to find a clock to check the time.

I wonder what they would use this information for. Meetup at the park every day at 8? Swoop in during noon lunch break at schools to get fed by kids?

>What language do crows think in?
There's no evidence that any animals have any kind of language, not even primates. It seems to be a purely human faculty.

There's considerable controversy about the idea of humans actually thinking in a language (as opposed to thinking about language). Various linguists and philosophers go either way.

It's highly doubtful that crows think in language, as smart as they are.

How come crows aren't bred as common pets like parrots and other 'clever' birds? I'd like to buy a crow.
>>
>>2217749
Could probably prime them for feeding time. Mum used to have a magpie that came to her front lawn as the sun came up every day (it eventually bought a baby over too), I'm sure if you put food out as the clock chimed for 6am or whatever they'd figure it out
>>
>>2218552
Crows are too smart for our own good,
they need a giant cage otherwise they get upset and if you let them out inside the house they're liable to hide, steal and break all your shit.

I don't think this is true: According to "A Murder of Crows", crows have over 200 words and two dialects.

I don't remember the timestamp, but the entire documentary is worth a watch:
