This, This, This. My 2nd Chesapeake Bay Retriever is a little retarded but nevertheless, is a great hunter. But you have to be careful how you raise them. My 1st Chessie, Chase, was loveable and very welcoming but you didn't want to be near him when he had a bone or when he was hunting. Cooper, my 2nd chessie, is love-able but he's very terratorial around people he doesn't know. You basically have to bribe him with a treat in order for him to trust you.

I've never owned one, but my old neighbors had one of those as a regular pet. It barked a lot and needed a lot of activity and time outside, but they live in the countryside so it was all good. I've heard they are pretty similar to shibas.

Thought I'd add that the solid black/tans are most probably Huntaways. The black/whites and tricolours are probably Heading Dogs, though you do get the occasional tricolour Huntaway, so it's harder to say.

Huntaways are the more solidly built ones and the lighter ones are heading dogs.
