I'm planning to pick up a pooch in the next few weeks but am having trouble deciding if I should get a male or female. I have had 2 male dogs in my life so far and 0 females, I have no frame of reference for a female dog except for a family friend's dog. I would be looking into a medium-large sized pooch.
In general they are more laid back and easy going, usually wanting to be near you versus running off. A lot has to do with nature and nurture though, so if you're getting an older dog without any previous history on it, it's a small gamble.

Female's don't pee ON EVERYTHING

doesnt matter whether male of female, just make sure its purebreed and assert your dominance over that thing, otherwise it will run all over you

Females are the best dogs if you want a more calm personality, IMO, males have the better personality but aren't as good of dogs
I like female dogs and male cats, it seems like the ideal balance for behavior and personality

Do you know what breed you are getting? Some breeds have differences in appearance based on gender.
I went with a female just because I didn't want to look at doggy dick all the time

My dog only pees where he isn't supposed to when my mom comes to visit.
And he makes sure to make eye contact with her first. It's strange.
