What's the scientific explanation behind all this?
It's comfortable? I don't know, this morning I woke my dog up for a pee and breakfast before work and she was too happy in her bed to get up. Eventually she did, only to go back upstairs and continue sleeping after five minutes.
My pups like too also.

My old dog used to grab the blanket and tuck herself in, and put her head on the pillow, of course.

My shih tzu hates it

>Why do so many dogs love to get tucked in so much?
Maybe they want to be like humans who do it, and see it as some sort of luxury?
i think it has something to do with denning instinct
dogs are psychotically great
My current dog loves it, she starts crying if her covers fall off in the night and she can't get back inside by herself. And during the day, she likes to build herself a cosy little igloo by dragging pillows and cushions down under the duvet. She has it down to a fine art now, there's a particular V-shaped pillow she likes to use at her igloo entrance to rest her snout on when she sticks it outside for air, and some long cylindrical cushions that she brings in from the living room to sleep between. And then I've had other dogs that storm off in a huff if you lay a single sheet over them.
um they nest naturally. canines do the whole den thing. is comfy and affectionate a thing.
>>2206804
Cuz you love to do it.

she's probably neutered

>My current dog loves it, she starts crying if her covers fall off in the night and she can't get back inside by herself.
mine did that too at the beginning.
she didn't complain loudly but if the doggo basket with the blanket was IN TOTAL CHAOS and therefore uncomfy, she just stood before the basked staring at it, then at me, then staring at it again. could last for minutes.
at some point she learned herself to tuck herself in by nudging and slipping with her long muzzle under the blanket and then biting it and pulling it over all the parts necessary.
but she did that ONLY IN EMERGENCIES when I was not around. if I was around, she'd just stand before it and asking me to please do that job with her eyes.
I really miss her.
doggos lives are fucking way too short.
>>2206809
She's a keeper
Canines are at least partially burrow-dwelling animals. Feral dogs will revert to living in dens when they can, in the home dogs use blanket, beds, and furniture to create a substitute den.

>>2206839
My old piggu would do this too. Only thing sticking out would be the nose
>>2206804
My beagle does this, he will just burrow into his blanket and pop his head out.
My guess is that it's comfy.

Most people see their pets as either their own family or children. Probably raises some kind of nurturing instinct inside of us to see doggos wrapped up in a blanket like we would do to a baby or young child.

>Any time I try, she thinks we're playing rat and will go ape
I suppose that's partly my fault because we play a lot of rat. Hopefully she'll let me tuck her in when it starts getting cold.
Pic related. It's my puppy.
Would you pet her?

Her ears are my favorite. Too big and stupid for my face. My sister telling her to stop growing her ears so the rest of her can catch up. I disagree. I always want her ears to be comically huge.

Submissive and good at following orders. You wouldn't want to be gassing 6 gorillas jews as Hitler while a cat tells you thats dumb and should gas 8 instead.

cuz it's comfy? Same reason people like getting tucked in.

dogs don't know what comfy is
Thread makes me sleepy
>>2216083
Bullshit. There is no way a dog cannot have preference on where they sleep, and what surfaces they think is nicer. There is no way any animal, let alone dogs, don't have some primitive concept of "comfort".
I wish but my mastiff hates covers and being tucked in but she likes having a bed of her own.
The XXL Kuranda bed she is using now was worth every fucking penny.
>>2216513
what happens when it gets cold? also your dog is fat
>>2216659
She loves colder weather. She loves being outside when it's cold. She will swim in the pond or swimming pool until mid January usually. She doesn't really get cold and if she does she will move to an area in the house or outside that's more to her liking. I live in an area that has mild winters and she sleeps indoors so it's not a major concern.
Yeah, she's a big girl. I know she looks fat laying down but she really isn't. She's very healthy, active, and solid as a rock. Vet says she right on the money at 186#.
Mastiffs are cool and I love her to death but when she dies I don't think I will ever get another one again. Its like living with a mini horse in your home that drools, sheds, and farts a lot.
My old lady doesn't actively curl up under blankets but will stay put if you put a blanket over her. If you so much as accidentally brush your hand on her paw though she'll leave and lay down somewhere else.
>>2216742
Then this little guy just loves to borrow under the covers. He sleeps in the bed with me every night. He'll dig at the top of the covers and can get under them sometimes but he usually ends up scratching me in the process so I just lift them for him.
