How do Elephants and Mammoths compare to each other in size.

It really depends on the species
Eritherium(Extinct), Phosphatherium(Extinct), Moeritherium(Extinct), Numidotherium(Extinct), Barytherium(Extinct), Gomphotherium(Extinct), Deinotherium Thraceiensis(Extinct), Amebelodon(Extinct), Chilgatherium(Extinct), Palaeomastodon(Extinct), Phiomia(Extinct), Deinotherium Giganteum (Extinct), Prodeinotherium(Extinct), Zygolophodon Borsoni(Extinct), Stegotetrabelodon(Extinct), Anancus(Extinct), Syrian Elephant(Extinct), Stegodon Ganesha(Extinct), Gnathabelodon(Extinct), Stegodon Zdanskyi(Extinct), Platybelodon(Extinct), Cuvieronius(Extinct), Palaeoloxodon Recki(Extinct), Rhynchotherium(Extinct), Palaeoloxodon Antiquus(Extinct), Stegomastodon(Extinct), American Mastodon(Extinct), Primelephas(Extinct),Palaeoloxodon Namadicus(Extinct), South African Mammoth(Extinct), Pygmy Elephant(Extinct), Pygmy Mammoth(Extinct), Southern Mammoth(Extinct), Steppe Mammoth(Extinct), Columbian Mammoth(Extinct), Woolly Mammoth(Extinct), Sri Lankan Elephant, Borneo Pygmy Elephant, African Forest Elephant and African Bush Elephant.
People usually mean wooly-mammoth compared to modern African elephants
Here is it compared to the average African elephant

Here is the wooly-mammoth compared to the largest African elephant (over 11 tones)
What the fuck I thought they were way bigger than current elephants
Fuck you media

this as well
>It disappeared from its mainland range at the end of the Pleistocene 10,000 years ago, most likely through climate change and consequent shrinkage of its habitat, hunting by humans, or a combination of the two. Isolated populations survived on St. Paul Island until 5,600 years ago and Wrangel Island until 4,000 years ago.
Comparing an average sized wooly mammoth to the largest african elephant doesn't seem very accurate.

Assuming that is the average mammoth and not the largest...

I think Columbian and steppe mammoths were larger but I also think they weren't fuzzy so not sure if that counts for you.
Also keep in mind the largest African elephants are adult bulls, which are loners so if mammoths were the same they could be slightly harder to find if they didn't die in tar pits or just froze over.

>Deinotherium
Really awesome design you got there evolution.

There were fuckhuge mammoths larger than modern elephants (the steppe mammoth, for example) but the woolly mammoth wasn't one of them
interestingly, the largest proboscidean to ever live wasn't even a mammoth, but still an elephant. Asian straight-tusked elephant (Palaeoloxodon namadicus) was absolutely fucknormous.
