/an/ need your advice.
I have a dog in quite a feral cat filled neighbourhood. Everytime i take him to a walk, he like every other dog just can't stop trying to chase/attack them. Personally, i am a bit worried if one day i'm careless and i can't stop him doing that. Is there any way to train them to stop chasing cats?

Just buy a .22 and get hunting.

Put him on a leash, don't let him go out by his own. Train him to follow voice command if possible.

Shock collar.
He'll learn quick.
If you can, trap neuter and release! You'd be doing a great service for your community.
Obviously keep him on a leash and get a good harness- other anons will know which better than I do, but one that prevents tugging. Without being regularly exposed to cats it'll be hard to train him not to chase though.

let him catch one every now and then
gotta let the wolf be a wolf sometimes. increases his quality of life

it's probably difficult to train this out since chasing cats is a rewarding activity in itself
one thing I could think of is getting a (n indoor) cat yourself and socialising your dog with it.
Maybe this socialisation will help, although Im not sure. You might want to ask somewhere else for advice. 4chan is pretty terrible
>Hit him with a stick
>put him on a leash
>learn to control your dog
>Put a muzzle on him and let him corner a cat
All good suggestions, depending on his breed the cats may sort him out themselves.
My lab use to chase cats, I never did care and he enjoy it until he ran into a very nasty tom cat that nearly took his eye.
Now the cats use my lab as a mobile cushion.

Nope. An indoor cats is real different from an outdoor cat to a dog. Dogs are really bad at generalizing, so he might be bffs with the indoor cat, but will still want to chase outdoor feral ones.

Can confirm, my dogs chase strays from the garden but adore my pet cats.
One of my dogs seem have taken upon himself to be a living heater for my elderly cat, they usually snuggle together in the sun.

While I am not particularly against this idea, it could come back to bite him in the ass if his wife decided to get a cat one day.

There is that whole "they form their own pack" thing, so that may be part of it.
