Animal ID thread?
Anybody know what this thing is/was?
that's a fucking alien
pure and simple
>>2195111
What's that even a photo of? There's no shadows under the objects or anything.
>>2195128
Your guess is as good as mine. There was some hair on it, possibly some brown rodent. It was still fresh so I'm guessing I clipped it recently before that pic.
>>2195158
Trying to get a sense of scale, I was referring to the blue and black objects, since they appear to be floating and not attached to the ground.
Either way, it's likely a shrew.
>>2195111
Dude it's just a mouse.
>>2195185
The square leg it's stuck on is probably 9" by 9" I would guess. It was just part of something, like it ripped off a chunk of skin and tissue. Too much to be a little field mouse.>>2195192
It almost looks like a mouse leg hanging there, but it wasn't a leg when seeing it IRL, just some tissue hanging.
What bird is this? Taken in Australia and was at least 75cm tall. Some kind of heron I assume.

My friend had all these plants in his basement.

Definitely the Royal Fern, OP. I'd grab a couple to take home with you, I'm sure the owner won't mind.

I had an odd obsession with ferns when I was in 7th grade.
Aside from being beautiful and ancient, there was something about their means of reproduction that fascinated me also.
It may have been my imagination, but they also seemed to have some sound-absorbant quality. Anywhere I found them in mass in forests, the area always seemed exceedingly quieter than parts without them.
I wonder if that acoustic dampening plays any role in the ecosystem. They seem to be the incarnation of a lush plant with such a exquisite geometric leaf pattern. Just being among a thicket of wild ferns feels a bit like traveling back to prehistoric times.

I love ferns too. That pic is pretty comfy.
This thing showed up this morning in my grass, what is it? I know it's a fungus but what species?
