So I got roaches in my house thanks to filthy neighbors for the longest time and the landlord for whatever reason doesn't want to call an exterminator. Anyways, the roaches have now started going into my hedgehog's cage. I got mothballs cause I know roaches hate them but the mothballs release poison so obviously that's not ok for my hedgie. I heard bay leaves work too but will the smell hurt my hedgehograndma since he has a good sense of smell? I don't want my hedgie eating the roaches cause they can be full of bacteria and shit. What's some things I can do to keep the roaches away from my hedgie's cage without harming him? Google has been fucking useless and I know from being on this site that 4chan isn't too reliable but what the hell.

if you're in the united states, that's literally illegal
tell the landlord to hire an exterminator or you'll be seeking the services of an attorney

Glue traps work. There's roaches in my barracks and spiders sometimes.
>buy average mouse/rat glue paper
>place in corner of room or near entry points
>sleep
>view results
ps:dont put in hog cage

If you're getting roaches, then find places where they may be able to get in and seal them. They can't just magic their way into houses. Start setting better traps instead of moth balls. Above all else, keep your shit clean. Clean everywhere.

Second, since bay leaf isn't poison, maybe take a small piece of a leaf and let the hedgehog be near it/smell it, see if it takes issue or reacts to it. If not, you'll probably be fine, if so, then there you go. Try glue traps in a line around the cage, maybe try finding a way to raise it from the fact surface so it's a little harder for the roaches to get on it, but I'm just spitballing for temporary solutions until your landlord fulfills their legal obligation. Assuming you're in America that is.
My parents have a bay tree in their backyard, roaches live in the dead leaves beneath it.
