It used to be my favorite breed but I looked it up in the AKC and it isn't registered. I thought it was a historical American breed. How can it not be registered? They have Staffordshire Terriers and American Staffordshire Terriers but not APBT. Petey from Our Gang is listed as one of those when I always thought he was an APBT.

Is it's name a problem? But English and American Bulldogs are allowed.

AKC calls them American Staffordshire Terriers, whereas the UKC calls then American Pit Bull Terriers. Effectively the same dog, just different standards across different kennel clubs.

Bump. I always read that APBT, ST, and AST were completely separate breeds.
