How about a thread for less popular kinds of wild felines? No Lions, Tigers, Jaguars, and especially domesticated cats. I'm talking Wildcats, Snow Leopards, Cougars, etc.
Pic related is a Scottish Wildcat. They're a very endangered type of cat. They're not pet cats, they're wild animals.

It's hard to tell most wildcats from domestic cats.
The most anime of all wildcats.
>trying to look up info or videos on Fishing Cats, Marble Cats, or Bay Cats
>get domestic cat info instead
I hate when species have such generic names.
I wish people cared about wildcats more. People are always writing books about feral cats when we have animals like the Scottish Wildcat.
Sand cat!
Bay cat. This thing looks prehistoric to me.
Asian golden cat
African golden cat
Black-footed cat
This is one of those animals I can't believe is wild. It just looks like a regular housecat with spots. Too cute to be in the wild!

>feral cat population is so bad in UK they have to call them a new species
lol
Very rare Pantanal cat
Bobcat!
Seen them in my childhood backyard from time to time (North East Pennsylvania)

No, Scottish Wildcats predate the domestication of cats. They're not feral cats at all.
Mountain lion
I've never seen one myself, but know of a few hunters that have seen them deep in the mountains. The game PA commission claims they don't exist in PA, but they do.
>>2190395
Mountain lions are so much cooler than regular lions. They're my favorite big cat.
>>2190395
I've seen a sedated one up close. Poor thing wandered too close to the city and was drugged to the gills so it could be checked and transported. Still had the deepest, most penetrating gaze I've seen.
>>2189432
The African/Middle Eastern wildcat is the one domesticated cats evolved from right?
>>2189432
To be honest I think Jaguars qualify because I always see lions, tigers, cheetahs and leopards posted but not Jags.

WV/Ohio/PA tristate area here, close to PA border.
I have been screamed at 3 feet from my tent, and then stalked for 4 hours in the middle of the night by one of these guys. They are definitely living in appalachia and they make the most bloodcurdling, unmistakable noise you will ever hear. Like nails on a chalkboard mixed with an old radio tuning.
I screamed at the top of my lungs with my best bigfoot impression for 3 minutes, crawled out of the tent and started a fire, intermittently screaming whenever I heard it move near me.
It arrived at 2:30am and did not leave until dawn. My flashlight was dying the whole time. Scariest fucking thing I have ever been through, it left me hoarse for days and I accidentally made everyone in the town below think that bigfoot lived on the hill above them.

Awesome
was about to make a thread
How does /an/ hold a cat?
I do the baby hold, but I've seen weirdo's that pick it up with 1 hand on the middle and 1 hand on the chest
>>2190472
You're wrong and dumb.
>>2190368
Dem sharp angles. What a beautiful cat.
>>2190527
fuck off
>>2189432
Guy in my county took a pic of a full grown black panther in his yard.
Kind of a crappy pic (had to crop and zoom in, not like he got close) but I'll post tomorrow if this thread is still up. On mobile, not at home with laptop
>>2190460
OP here. Post whatever rarely talked about wild cats you want.
Code.
>>2190370
They remind me of the cats from Ratha's Creature. I wish there was more info on them.
Scottish Wildcats are so cool.

>Khajiit has wares, if you have coin
>888
checked
>>2189432
why can't I have it as a pet?
>>2191051
That's like trying to keep a tiger as a pet. A very, very tiny tiger.
I 'hate' pet cats (I don't truly hate the but they're very, very unappealing and basically my least favorite animal ever) but I love wild cats. I don't get it. Pet cats are just so boring and useless seeming while wild cats are so interesting
>>2191542
Transpose a fatass domestic's daily schedule in the streets onto a wild cat's life and you have the same thing. They only interest you have is because of some imagined mystery.
>>2191569
I've seen plenty of documentaries on lions, tigers, etc and they're just more interesting.
>tfw no documentaries exist for most cats besides Jaguars, Lions, Tigers, and Cheetahs
>>2191579
That's because they cut out the hours of sleeping and grooming.
>>2190855
ok
>>2189652
this
Does this count?
>>2195624
Looks like a weasel or badger.
How many cats ITT are endangered or at risk?
>>2195779
>Civettictis_civetta
I think it is technically a feline.
>>2195818
It's part of the suborder Feliforma, so it's close, just like this thing.
>>2195818
clearly more primitive than felines. here's a genet, same family.
the snow leopard is nothing more than a living, breathing meme.
very pretty cato tbfh
All they do is play and make funny cat noises all day

so cute

They are truly living memes

Domestic cats have identical characteristics to wild cats. Anything interesting a wild cat does a domestic cat does in some other way. Its only preconcieved notions that domestic cats are boring because they're common, and wild cats are seen as exotic, thus appealing to our lavish and commodity driven life styles. The only difference is an illusion of value. You're not gonna get much time watching exotic wild animals and you're definitely never going to keep one but you can observe a plethora of their natural instinct by watching an outdoor house cat. (Indoor cats are just fat lazy shits, but don't tell this board this, they prefer their cats to be indoor and obese)

When I was a young man I was running some of the tank trails on Camp Pendleton when I cam around a corner with high vegetation when I ran into a mountain lion, no more 10 to 15 feet away. It was probably as shocked as I was, we locked eyes and I slowly backed away out of sight and continued my run. Never been so close to a wild animal that could fuck my shit up.
Pretty cool. Beautiful animals, just gorgeous.
Any tips what I should do when my cat is missing?
Caracals are fucking cool. If I could own any wildcat without ruining its life it'd be one of these.
>they forgot about the jaguarundi once again...
