I lost two hermits recently and now the last one (who I've had for about five years now) is on his own. Can I bring him for closely supervised walks outside in the backyard or do I need to worry about spiders, ants, parasites, etc. I love in Nothereastern New England if that makes any difference and it very hot here right now.
You really shouldnt be taking him out of his tank period. If youre on facebook join the group Hermit Crab Owners for proper care information.

Usually taking any small creature outdoors is a bad idea. Causes more stress than good. They are open for attack from predators like birds, foxes, raccoons or whatever. Of course they're fine with you around, but they don't know that.
Also, yeah. Catching something a sickness possibility.

He will get parasites for sure.

He's walking up against the glass though like my dog does when she wants to be picked up. That's just for imagery, I'm well aware the difference between dogs and crabs.

To be fair most intestinal parasites are cross species, any who form cysts.
