Hey /an/, yesterday I was mowing the lawn as usual, and when I was done, I noticed a little fucker on my ankle. Pic of the little shit.
Can someone identify the little shit, and please help me know if I should be aware that I am now allergic to red meat? I don't think it is a Lone Star Tick, but I would like to hear other people's inputs.
Thanks,
Anon.

Do you see a lone star there?
It's most likely a dog tick.
Well, they both are common and I thought it might be a Lone Star Tick due to the white mark on the back, but I think I do agree with you know that I think about it

That has kind of white mark on it's back. I've seen a tick with the star once and it was pretty distinctive.
Go to a doc.

That's not what the mark on a lone star tick's back looks like at all. I'm not 100% sure that it's a dog tick, but I'm 100% sure of what it's not.
Looks like a wood tick to me senpai, lone stars don't really have that grey area on the upper parts of their back, and the actual spot that they're known for is much more pronounced than that one. If you happened to hold on to the thing in a container, freeze it. If you get flu-like symptoms, go to the doctor with the tick (if you don't still have the tick, show him this picture)

It doesnt seem to even have bit you. They need some time to get through the skin, and even more to infect you.

that's a dog tick but take it to a doctor anyways.
