Some of it is underwater near the edge of the pond thats why i assume it can live under water well. I just cant get a clear pic of that
>>
Callitriche nuttallii
>>
>>2168760
That was fast, i will research it and post more pics soon to confirm
>>
If someone else thinks its something else tell me
>>
>>2168763
it's either that or some other Callitriche sp.

it's pretty much the only option in Texas.

Can i keep it underwater in my aquarium?

It does look like it btw
>>
>>2168766
it tends to get leggy and ugly if it grows submerged.

go ahead, slap it through a 5-10% bleach solution, that's what they usually do to sterilize plants for frogs.
>>
>>2168768
Yeah its not too lovely but its free and my tank is a bit empty now, i might just take it out after i get nicer plants

if you want to fill your aquarium quickly just collect some hydrocotyle.

it's invasive as fuck, unironically related to Hedera.
>>
>>2168776
Thanks, ill have to go back to the pond and do more research, i think i saw some that looked like that specie you just mentioned

the species you'll be collecting aren't as cute.
>>
Does anyone else have experience with collecting plants from ponds and having them in their aquarium?
>>
>>2168813
I collect almost all plants I own.
>>
>>2168820
Tell me a bit about it, what species, how?
>>
>>2168841
ummm, when it comes to water plants I currently have Nymphaea alba, Mentha aquatica, Nuphar lutea, Stratiotes aloides, Fontinalis antipyretica, Elodea canadensis, Pontederia cordata, Butomus umbellatus, Ceratophyllum demersum, Equisetum fluviatile and Menyanthes trifoliata.

that depends on the species, but you can rip most water plants out of the ground without issues.
>>
Ceratophyllum demersum, that one seems nice for aquariums as background plants. Learning about this makes me want to start a paludarium.

thanks a lot for your input anon youve been very helpful
>>
>>2168898
it's easy to collect, you can just chop the heads off.

it grows nearby, I used to pay some girls like 20 cents for every bush of them 5 years ago and sold them for 2.50.
>>
>>2168907
honestly how did you know it was that specie I found? It seems so obscure, im trying to do research and theres hardly any info out there

also not very common specie, and this one is native to texas, do you have a website you used?
>>
>>2168909
there's multiple Callitriche species native to my country, I recognized it's growing pattern.
>>2168912
I simply googled 'Callitriche texas'
>>
>>2168917
yeah, theyre known to be native to texas, i know that now but theres not much info on them
>>
>>2168927
why would there be much information on some pond weed.
>>
>>2168928
true, i just guessed that I thought theyd be a common thing, theyre not nice but i thought itd be common enough to find info on lighting and stuff they need or basic info
>>
>>2168930
you can usually tell what they need by the location you found them in.

from what I can tell plenty of light and acidity.
