Two years ago a woman filed a missing pet report for an $1,100 cat that escaped out of the house. She put up flyers and searched for weeks.

Last month she saw the cat in her neighbor's window and called the police. Shawnie Godke refuses to give up the Cat, claiming that the cat came by several times and "wanted to come in" and she didn't know it was missing. Funny enough, she knew what the cat's name was and continues to call it by that. The cat had a microchip that verified that it belong to the owner, but police cannot enter without a search warrant.

So like the piece of shit Shawnie is, instead of giving the cat back she is moving in attempts to keep it.

What do you make of this, /An/?

>>
>but police cannot enter without a search warrant.

I call bullshit. Animals are considered property. If it's microchipped then she can easily be taken to court.
>>
>>2157217
She is being taken to court. Court order is needed for a search warrant.
>>
Id of skipped police and murdered the family for stealing my cat
>>
Siamese cats are extremely pricy. The theif will be given grand larceny charges and a felony. Pretty stupid not to realize this.
>>
well then dont let your cat run away.
If the cat obviously likes it more there, she might be a better owner anyway
>>
>>2157213

Sort of an interesting case, really. Does the microchip equate to a serial number on a TV that might be stolen, or does it follow a different set of laws since it's not in plain sight? Plain sight laws get strange. Like while you can't enter a house to look at an object, you can use audio and infrared detection from outside the property.

Regardless, that cat will "disappear" before anything comes from it. No cat to search, no proof.

And what will moving accomplish? Then the woman will just have to come back to the state for court. Of course, the cat she presents will be a completely different cat with a different microchip

.... waste of time. Just key her car and shit on her porch, then move on. Or break in and steal the cat right back. What's she gonna do? It's your microchip. She can't say you stole your cat from her or some shit. Just don't get caught in the act.
>>
Oh, by way, that bitch looks absolutely, certifiably insane. God damn terrifying.
>>
>indoor/outdoor cat?
>I thought he was taken by a coyote
Why would you take that risk with a cat that is "like your son"?
It's living a better life now, clearly.
>>2157525
This though.
>>
>>2157554

People that pay 4 figures for a cat aren't normally the most logical people.
>>
>>2157213
>Shawnie says the cat was abused, neglected and unwanted. 2013 photos show Joey when his fur was matted, dirty and he was filled with burrs.
I want to see the 2013 pictures of Joey. If he was really that bad off I can't be too mad at the new woman, no matter how legitimately, terrifyingly insane she looks.
From a legal standpoint, she fucked up. From a goodwill standpoint, ehhh...
>>
>>2157602

Dirty fur does not constitute neglect. It is what happens when a cat is outdoors for a while, especially one unfamiliar with outdoors and not comfortable enough to groom itself regularly.
>>
>>2157525
Mmmmm she looks like Jenna from 30 Rock, I'd let her steal my heart
>>
>>2157213
> leave cat outside
> omg someone stole my cat :(
No one stole that cat, it was given away.
>>
>>2157821

Fun fact, white animals are stolen more than any other color. So guard your great pyrenees and ragamuffins well.
>>
>>2157521
The weird thing with cats is once outside and off the owners property, they are 'free-roaming' animals, basically a way to say animal control doesn't have to spend all day every day catching loose cats. That's because cats do not need licensing, so ACO doesn't need to catch cats 'at large', while dogs do.

So what does that mean? Unfortunately it means a giant grey area. A microchip is a great way to determine ownership, and ownership of a cat not otherwise owned via microchip or tags is owned generally by who's name is on the rabies vaccine. Oftentimes cats will never see a vet, and not many animals have microchips just yet. Photo evidence can only go so far, as it's possible to argue that there are many cats that may look the same.

Then the microchip ordeal, like you had said. It's not always apparent that the animal has a microchip and currently, not all states are required to scan for a microchip. Some states only require a scan if there is a microchip ID, which could be taken off anyway.

It will be interesting nonetheless but I'm sure the media will spin the situation in such a way to persuade the judge/jury to give the original owners will get the cat back and probably thousands of dollars too.
>>
>>2157608

Filled with burrs and being dirty and matted is neglect. The matting of long haired cats fur tightens and tears a the skin, which causes sores and infect skin.
>>
>>2157213
>an $1,100 cat
The fact she knew this shows that both are shit and the cat is better off living the mercenary life.
>>
>>2157213

>claiming ownership on an animal you let freely roam around the neighbourhood

10/10
>>
>>2157843

You're still just describing what happens to an outdoor cat. Their fur gets fucked up and covered in dirt, oil, grape soda, everything. I

Don't get me wrong - I don't condone outdoor cats. However, I've seen enough outdoor cats to know they look like a train wreck compared to indoor cats. I guess maybe they look okay if you live in a very new suburban area without a lot of trees/bushes/vines or it never rains.
>>
>>2157525
>that bitch looks absolutely, certifiably insane. God damn terrifying.

The blonde chick looks a little unstable, too.
>>
>>2157898

No, that isn't what just happens to outside cats. Long haired cats require grooming and is part of the commitment of adopting one. Just because a cat loves outside doesn't automatically mean it doesn't/shouldn't be groomed.

Also, negligence is not monitoring your pets health and wellbeing, which includes not checking if your cat is tangled with burrs or matted. Regardless of how you feel about inside vs outside cat, having an outside cat doesn't mean you aren't responsible for their basic needs, which includes grooming for long hairs.
>>
>>2157922

... All I said was a cat's fur gets wrecked when it is an outdoor cat. And you haven't denied that. You just keep saying they need to be groomed, and need attention, and matter hair tears the skin ... none of that denies the point of the original post.

this cat got outside (it was not an outdoor cat) and probably spent some time getting messed up with no human interference. Then crazy blonde bitch grabs the dirty cat and is like "oh noes neglect" when it is really just wear and tear from being outside for a while.

It's like those assholes that will bust your window to free your trapped dog from your car in a parking lot. With the car running. And A/C on. In 70 degree cloudy weather. For the 3 minutes it took you to pay the gas station cashier. Because oh noes dog left in car - neglect.

if you don't want your cat to be stolen don't let it outdoors, otherwise you don't have the right to cry.
>>2157217
animals are considered the property of whoevers land they're on, even if they're microchipped.

if a cat walks into your garden it's your cat.

that's how it works in most of the states.

>if you don't want your cat to be stolen don't let it outdoors, otherwise you don't have the right to cry.

this applies to the entire world though.
>>2158057
outdoor cats are usually not on the land of the person claiming to be the owner.

>the cat came by several times and "wanted to come in"

the cat was on her property.

why are you guys even complaining about this, why is it being mentioned? cats have negative objective value, what do you care.
>>
>>2158072
Because I like to point out when people are talking bullshit.

>animals are considered the property of whoevers land they're on
this is bullshit
Also: dont get a cat, if you are planning to not let it out.
>>
>>2158072
Cop here in the state this happened in. I can assure you that this is a warrant issue. Just because the cat was seen in the window doesn't mean police can force themselves inside. Owner needs to press charges and motion forward for a court order search warrant. Cat will most likely have "run away" by then.
>>
>>2158077

Go fuck yourself.
There is literally no need to let a cat outside unsupervised besides anthropomorphism.
>>
>>2157937
Idk if you've seen mats before, but it's much more than just a tangle of fur. Mats happen when people neglect to brush their animal for several days and let it get worse. It's not something that happens in one or two outings. And I'd say if the animal was truly covered in mats, it is a case of neglect.

The being dirty and covered in burrs can happen in a day. But mats do not happen in a day. Especially 'covered' in mats.

>>2158054
For once I have to agree with this fag, although I don't think that's how it works with licensed animals like dogs. I could feel more sympathy if the cat accidentally got out, but letting a cat that cost a fucking grand wander, they deserved it.
>>
Honestly can't tell if that's her wedding photo or a screencap from some kind of porno with that make-up.

For once I don't think 4chan girls are over reacting about someone's appearance. This woman's crazy eyes game is strong.

Not to mention she steals cats.

It's not so much the amount of makeup she's wearing. It's her buggy, heartless, Paula Dean eyes that make her look crazy.

idk, it's her soulless grin that makes me uneasy. Imagine her holding that same expression as you're ramming her ass.

that is the law in most of the states and most of the world for that matter.

legal hunting zones and protected parks wouldn't function properly without that law, you can't lock up or kill animals that aren't your property legally.

>dont get a cat, if you are planning to not let it out.
if you want to point out bullshit you'll be pointing at yourself.
