this is my skunk! he was an orphan and I want to know where to start. We're taking him to the vet tomorrow. I read online about skunk diets and I will not allow my baby to get diabetes.
we're not de-scenting him either because we have to give him back to nature.
Then don't raise him. Also it's old enough to be on its own. Young skunks are just oddly friendly.

he weighs less than a pound. He weighs like half as much as my pet rat. Is he really old enough to be on his own?

The way he's laying with his head down and paw curved by it is exactly how my cat laid when he was critically low on potassium and collapsed. If he's that light weight he's probably very lacking in something, so he should get checked out. My cat lost 25% of his body weight over a day during the aforementioned collapse.

this skunk is literally a healthy baby
he didn't collapse
he was with his mom until 9pm last night when she got hit by a car
he was sleeping on my chest and kneading my shirt and after the picture he woke up and started playing again.

Oh, well he's probably sad then and misses her. It would still not hurt to get him checked and give him a rabies vaccine. He's really cute.
