I have a GSD/ Golden Retriever mix that I got as a puppy from a breeder, the GSD got a hold of the retriever female and they were giving the puppies away.
Apollo is 9 months old now, and I've had him for 3 months, he is a great dog, really smart and he learned his basics commands (sit, stay, leave it, milk bone) within 2 days, and we are currently working on more advanced stuff. He gets makes friends with every dog he's met except one. My friend has a 2 year old husky and when we try to walk our dogs, they just immediately want to kill each other. We have tried introducing them on neutral territory, but the result is the same.
What is the issue? How can I resolve it? Anyone have real advice?

Are you sure they don't want to play around? Sometimes my dog gets really anxious when she sees another dog, and other people might take it as aggressive, but she really just wants to play.

They get pretty vicious and go straight for the neck.

I worry about getting him neutered, I don't want him to lose his playful personality. I love taking him for runs and bike rides.

I actually have the same kind of mix pup. She was spayed at 1 year and never lost that puppy playfulness. Shes 13 now and still has a ton of energy. Also I have a male neutered dog and trust me, they don't lose energy.
