Posting the comfiest and best fox.

Except it cries like undeads from 2000's screamer flash videos.
Why are foxes so adorable /an/?

How do I befriend feral foxes?
>>2119110
Carefully?
Let me know if you figure it out
>>2119056
Hey, I recognize that fox.

>that feel when I might never fox
I hold out hope like I hold out hope for all those airplanes I really can't afford to buy and certainly can't afford to store or fuel.
I'd rather get a domestic one for obvious reasons, but breeders seem basically null
>>2119404
If you can't afford to import one from Russia you probably can't afford to care for one you bought locally.
I don't know why everyone wants foxes when the cutest pet animal the ferret is available and 100x better for everything.
>>2119489
It sucks at being a fox, though.

>Why are foxes so adorable /an/?
Because they are catdogs.

Good to know, thanks anon.
Will still look into it. Not really in a position to do anything for a number of years anyway.
What's so expensive about them? Vet shit since exotic-ish?
>>2119600
If you find a vet it will be strictly on a voluntary basis, since there are no vaccines for foxes and the vet isn't trained to handle them. Fox feed needs to consist mainly of raw meat, which is more expensive than crap you can feed to your cats and dogs. Foxes are intelligent and extremely active, which means you also have to provide a fairly large enclosure, with an area that the fox can treat as its own lair where no one will disturb it, you included, also toys, treats, plus all the clothing and furniture it will destroy while investigating it or simply playing around. They are cute bundles of joy, but they're not a pet for you if you can foot unexpected premium veterinary bills and if you aren't ready to martyr yourself to them for the next 5-10 years.
Also the smell. They habitually mark, their piss is rancid, and they have a musk of their own that only frequent baths can keep in check.

True of both tame and outright domestic?
>>2119749
No such thing as a domesticated fox.
>>2120071
Then, what are these ?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Domesticated_Red_Fox
fox are like real life pokemon.
>>2120084
They're in the process of domestication, the early stages. But they are not domesticat-ed.
>>2120089
I live in a big house with a nice forest just behind, it's a bitch to buy groceries so far from any store, but it is incredibly quiet and it's beautiful at any point of the year.
Would it be a good environment for such a fox to fox properly ?
>>2120095
Build as big an enclosure as you can with a roof, add dog toys and things like cat towers or aother climable. Add dog houses, of course one with straw and heat for winter.
Keep in mind red and arctic foxes stink naturally, plus they have strong pee and poop smell. Supposedly they are litter training but the success rate is very poor, they dig and chew, so they are not great inside your house 24/7. They will also always be timid a little or a lot because they don't bred to please humans like dogs
I think if you can manage the proper enclosure, give proper diet, handle the smells, handle the sometimes loud sounds, find good fox vet, and accept that even though it will bond to you it will always be cautious, then a fox could be a good playful and handsome companion
I always recommend gray foxes because they have no musk, potty train better, mostly quiet, not as prone to stay skittish, and not very destructive. But they are more catlike

>>2119110
.....you don't? Duh?
>>2120105
How would you counteract their digging? They naturally burrow. Or maybe they only use the burrows of other animals. I don't remember.
>>2120089
More reasonable in a few decades, you figure?
Frankly I'm surprised they weren't domesticated much earlier; strikes me they'd have been pretty good mousers back in the day
