I really hate this "why would you add to that" response. You're not. An unaltered animals mere existence does not add to the population.
I have not had a dog neutered in a decade. None of them have reproduced. Thanks, properly managing my animals.

My "Hobby" is picking abandoned kittens and give them a better life with some family. So i have them spayed/neutered, because these people, while nice, are (usually) awful at taking care of kittens with less than 3 months.

Theres nothing wrong with having unaltered animals if you're responsible.

However, the general public is a bunch of retarded irresponsible assholes about pets, so everyone repeating "spay and neuter your animals" is a good thing.

If you cannot even manage that aspect of owning an animal, I question the ability to do properly in other aspects.
I wish there were a mass culling of dogs and cats to make them less readily available; less of a "everyones got a pet! I should too!" Novelty.
