ITT: post your pet, its name and where that name originates from.
Aino as given to my aunt as a part of a duo. She's a dainty little thing compared to her brother, who is a robust longhair who looks sort of like a curmudgeony old-timer. Because he'd had the luck of having born looking old he was named Väinö, after Väinämöinen from Kalevala, and his sister was named after the maid Aino from the same lore.
Her name stems from Vivi, my favorite FF9 character. Vivi is what I call her for short, of course.
Here she's pictured in her cage at the adoption center I got her from. Couldn't quite figure out the intended purpose of the cat bed.
This is my puppy Daisy. It's a friggen flower.
She's almost painfully adorable.
I made that bench to be a scratching post for my cats. We had the cats before we got link but link claims it as his bench when the cats aren't around. Small benches and chairs are fairly easy to make.
It's a boring story as far as how got his name. I asked my little sister what was a good name, she said Max, and it sounded fine to me.
Black and white one is called Keiser, which means emperor. My brother came up with it and it sounded cool. We also considered Batman for awhile.
Yellow one is called Buster and I think we named him after another cat we knew at the time aswell as after Buster Bunny. I was like 12 when we got him, he is almost 15 now.
this is oatmeal.
i named him that because oatmeal tastes good
My oldest cat.
Picked the name from the book "The Cat Inside" by William Burroughs
Mordecai is a rescue cat. He's a bit of a grumpy old man and seeing as we're a Jewish family, we thought we'd give him a Jewish name that suited his stubborn nature.
This is Tonks. The name is from Harry Potter, Nymphadora Tonks. I just call her 'my little snot-nosed cat' because of the yellow patch on her nose.
this is Samson aka piglet as when he eats he makes such a mess. the origins of his name are...I dont really know. I just was like Samson! thats your name, hes 14 btw
My girl, Chubbi.
When my boyfriend and I went to the shelter, he wanted a young, active cat but there weren't a lot of options that suited our lifestyle. An employee suggested this little girl and I immediately fell in love, but she was 13 years old, a little overweight and had some kidney problems. My boyfriend really didn't want her, but he agreed to let me adopt her if he got to name her Chubz... Which I've since changed to Chubbi because it's more feminine and she responds to it better.
Now a year and a half later, my boyfriend wouldn't trade her for the world, so it all worked out.
My Cats the white one is Princese and the black on is Felix
White one is Piu, my sisters and me called her like that because she was so fluffy that just Piu came out from our mouths. Orange one is Oliver, he is Piu's son. We chose that name because it fits with orange-cat style, but also we call him Tommy
This is Bunji. He got the name from my brother who can't spell worth shit. It's pronounced like bungee cord because when we got him he would jump straight up and could lick our noses while we were standing. (Granted, we were kids and still pretty short)
He was put down this morning. He'd lost function in his back legs, and his cancer had moved to his lungs.
