Hi, I'm wondering if there's any other anons who manage chronic pain.

I'm 22 and ever since the year started I have been developing arthritis. I have osteoarthritis in ky hands, elbows and toes and maybe ankle. Ever since the beginning of the year I developed back pain and I started grinding my teeth. It isn't fair, I should be thriving. Well, I'm trying my best to thrive I guess, but no matter what, no matter how many dates I go on, no matter how much fun I have, I am always reminded "yep, you still have pain."

Sometimes I am okay with it but usually not. Like right now.

I have two friends who have chronic pain. One's is caused by a spine issue (I don't know the details though), the other developed it over time due to bad posture.

How do that deal with it

I have juvenile arthritis in my right shoulder
Some days are better than others
But it's always there.

Can't tell you much. It's there. It hurts. Life still exists.

I've heard cortisone can make it disappear all together. But I've never head it.

The one with the spine issue isn't too limited by her's, she still plays sport and manages to live her life just fine. The other can do most things, just nothing that's too physical, like going to the gym.

I would keep working wth pain specialists until they find a drug that can help you. There are some pretty magical ones out there if you find the right medicine for you.

Have you tried marijuana edibles?

No, I've never worked with pain specialists. I saw my general practitioner who referred me tests and then to a rheumatologist who told me it looked like osteoarthritis with no known cause. Then I stopped going. My pain has gotten worse since then and my arthritis spread to other joints.

Well I finished reading the Wolf of Wall Street, and Belfort talks about how he was in terrible chronic pain for about 5 years.

Finally he finds some pill that turned his pain off completely, he felt fine. It was a particular condition he had that was hard to determine.

Anyway I would try 4 or 5 different drugs and see if you can get something that stops the pain. Some of the pain drugs out there these days are pretty precise.

Marijuana edibles sound like something I'd be interested in. I have a family member who used to be addicted to oxycotin so I am a little scared to try that
>>
Yes, for 9 years. You get used to it. The fact that you aren't housebound means that you'll be fine. Don't worry.
>>
Yes. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome from my mom (not the worst case of it I've heard or anything) and lupus. Joint pain, hips and knees all fucked up and unstable, thumb problems that interfere with writing, knitting, and video games, plus other fun stuff like fatigue, feeling like I have the flu all the time, and passing out from standing up. I use a wheelchair most of the time when I'm out.

Some of it's managed perfectly (like my ex-chronic migraines and the terrible Raynaud's Syndrome I used to have), some of it's managed imperfectly (like the lupus itself, which is less but still periodically makes me very sick and sore and my hair falls out) and some of it is managed poorly or not at all and I just pretend it's not happening or self-medicate.

It's shitty, Idk. Mindfulness meditation recommendations are legit even if people who give them don't grasp the impact of life with chronic pain. I've coached myself through some pretty much 10/10 migraines with mindfulness. I take kratom every day now as well, which I can barely afford, but it lets me function a /lot/ better and fixes some of my health probs.

25 year old osteoarthritis sufferer here. I was born with my hip ball joint dislocated out of the socket. They only found out some time after I was born. I had many corrective surgeries as a baby, I was in a cast for a lot of time. My parents were told I'd have arthritis for the rest of my life.

I was dealt a shit hand, but I'm happy I can, for the most part, walk without a wheelchair. I am prepared knowing I'll probably need one later on in life though...
Sometimes I need a cane for when it gets real bad. I walk with a noticeable limp at all times whether I'm in pain or not, due to one leg being shorter than the other. I do have a disability placard to hang on my rearview mirror in the car, but I only use it for times when I truly need to.

Sometimes I feel like my mind is supple, but my body just can't keep up. I bet that's how old people feel.

Better shoes help, and I have medical grade insoles from a podiatrist I went to. I have New Balances now instead of Nike. And I take meloxicam, since my body got used to Celebrex rather quickly. Ask your doctor about that.

But really to manage pain, all I can really do is try to take it easy, and at a manageable pace. It's really hard. Sometimes I pretend I don't need help, but I do. Sometimes I pretend I'm not in immense pain, but I am

Just go for ones with CBDs. They won't get you high, and you'll get 100% of the "pain killer" chemical found in marijuana.
