Have you tried a temp agency? You can find short-term employment very easily, and if you're a good employee, there's a good chance of getting hired on full-time. That's how I started out, and I've now been with the same company 10+ years.

Not the same anon but they're a big gamble. Last time I went to a temp agency they took forever and when they did send me somewhere, it was a place full of rednecks who instantly disliked me, and they got rid of me after literally 3 days. My situation is a little different but they're a gamble for sure.
