How would I go about getting funding for a short/indie film? Work? Loans? Investors?
Pic extremely unrelated.
You could always try crowd funding.

you could always try crowdfunding but why would anyone crowdfund you? despite the success stories you've heard, they are few and far between, especially for film projects.
the successful ones have some sort of known person attached, someone with a fan base. keep in mind that in this our generation of nosalgia even all of the original power rangers combined were only able to raise 100k for their own film.
do you have any short films under your belt that show your potential as a filmmaker? and if they require you to say 'sorry about the X' when sharing a link, then no you dont, cuz no one wnats to invest in someone who makes excuses.
seriously though if it is a SHORT film how much funding do you REALLY need? i sank 4k into my feature film this year, and most of that was just buying the new equipment and feeding / housing my actors for two months.
