Been out of college for a while looking in to going back. Considering either a degree in education or sociology. Which would be the best major?
Of the two, education since it is steady paychecks, a very cookie cutter career path, and a 'respectable career' among society.
I genuinely cant name what you would do with a Soc degree, apart from things like academia, publishing or working some family services in city hall.
education. sociology degrees are dime in a dozen. they're only useful, however, if you intend on going to grad school for a behavioral science career, like counseling. there's not much you can do with a degree in education, besides teach. it's a major in nothing, that doesn't really prepare you for any grad program.

I should note, that you need to be sure that you want to teach. take an early field exploration course in education, if your college/uni has one, as soon as possible. the assignment for that course is to go clock in hours at a local classroom. You should have a good idea after spending 30-40 hours observing/tutoring, if teaching kiddies is what you want to do.
-- I'm actually an education major myself, and I'm getting buyer's remorse, but I only have a year left, so I'll just see it through, and then figure things out later.
Neither, go STEM you autist
