It's great you want to make some positive changes. You can meet people once you get a job, and hopfully befriend some co-workers. I wouldn't put "clubbing" or "hanging out" with people as the priority. Concentrate right now on just getting a decent job. don't overwhelm yourself

Pick up a hobby somewhere. It's pretty easy to meet/talk to people that go to some event you all enjoy. This can be something as simple as a chess hangout in a bookstore or something

I can only really relate to anything gaming. (art development etc.)
There aren't that many gameJams around here unfortunatly. Game events aren't that comon either.

Good stuff man. Honestly I've found the gym to be good place to meet people. Ask them to spot you and then if they seem in a talking mood get to know them.
Or
Find clubs/groups in your area for your interests. Normie book has a good amount of "your city, x club" then join and go to the meet ups.

You ever consider building plastic model kits like pic related? Almost every HobbyTown has a weekly event and anywhere from 4 to 30 people can show to just talk and construct weeb robots.

Or you could get into trading card games like MTG or YGO. Bit more expensive this way, but you're guarenteed to meet some cool cats.
