Social skills and compensatory behavior can be learned. It's not my area of expertise so I am not currently aware of programs for adults, but Skillstreaming is a well researched and proven program for helping autistic children and teens improve their ability to interact with other people. Skillstreaming remediation must be delivered by someone who is trained to provide it, though.

If you are functional - and evidently you are - then the only real difference between you and "normal" people is that you have difficulty in reading social situations and cues (like people's moods), while others can usually (Not always - normies get it wrong a lot of the time) do it without much difficulty.

But these are learnable skills, and with some trial-and-error and willingness to keep trying when you get it wrong, you CAN get better at it.
