Howdy /adv/.
Just started college majoring in civil engineering but have been having thoughts about switching over to mechanical. I've heard recently that civil engineering is rather dull and the job market is very tough. However, I've also heard a mechanical engineering degree is a lot more broad and can help you expand into many different careers. Is this true?
Any engineers on here that can give me your thoughts or experiences on this?

My cousin's a (new-ish) civil engineer.
From what he tells me, his job largely consists of doing really boring calculations (water drainage and shit) and then handing it off to his immediate superior.
Also, your thumbnail looks like Tracer's bum.

Engineer here. I feel like I know a lot of engineers that just end up in tech from other engineering (like material science engineering major to machine learning data scientist) The key is to hire into a larger company that has a lot of different projects and learn on the job but first show that you are smart and able to learn a lot.
