How do you get over trust issues

I cheated on my girlfriend once. Really if you can't get over just end the relationship. I wanted to leave her after it happened but she begged me to stay so I did.
We worked our shit out, figured out all the problems and resentments we had towards each other and then moved on. It still bothers her some days but I do my best to comfort her. Its a shitty thing but really its up to you guys whether you can get over it or not.

This is a different guy. I dumped the cheater. But I keep feeling as though I have to be more careful this time round. It makes the relationship tense.

I might catch shit for this but I think its a little different when women and men cheat. When a man cheats its usually because he is drunk and horny and thinking with his cock.
When a woman cheats there is a deep rooted problem, because they are such emotional beings, for the most part they don't just like to hop into bed with random men. I just think when a woman does it its a precursor to other serious shit going on.
I mean not all situations are the same but in my personal experience when a woman does the relationship is fucked beyond belief and when the man does it they can usually patch up and move on.
I told my gf I wouldn't be able to get over her doing the same thing to me, so I gave her a chance to leave if she has a problem with that but she seems okay now, I don't know.
