What are some good ways to deal and cheer up when depression hits?

Take walks. Grow plants. Read philosophy. If you have relatives who are kids, play with them. Hit the gym. Keep yourself busy and focused on the world around you instead of being focused on yourself.

I usually drink some vodka and/or play video games. Just find something that can take your mind off of things for a while.

I try and find the source of somthing that's depressing me and I try and illuminate it.

I often find doing things like showering, cleaning my room/making my bed. It's starts of a small sense of acomlishment which gives me the confidence to pursue bigger tasks that depress me. At the end of the day when you get home you have a clean room and a made bed to be happy about otherwise the easiest option is just to get shit faced and worry about your problems tomorrow
