Not really advice, just curious about something.
Last year, I did something very stupid - I got wasted, went for a ride on my motorcycle, and crashed into the back of an SUV at high speed.
The doctors did blood tests when the ambulance brought me in (routine, I assume), and found my blood alcohol level to be well over the legal limit (.08% where I live). The police came to the hospital to get my insurance details and driver's license.
The doctor who discharged me told be about my BAC, but said the police weren't pressing any impaired driving charges.
Why would this be?
(picture related, yes, there was blood. just glad no one else was hurt)

They didn't obtain your BAC through due process. They either need your consent, a warrant, or it's taken while you are under arrest.

For whatever reason, the prosecutor gave up the case because he couldn't win it. For whatever reasons prosecutors give up cases.
Whenever you go into the ER. We pull blood and run tests to get a baseline. As far as reporting it. That's outside my job title. But HIPAA should protect you.

Fuck you scumbag. Never drive when drunk, you could have killed someone!
Drove drunk once. Was never caught, nor was I riding a motorcycle, but one piece of advice I urge is to leave your windows open while driving and to keep your radio/music off (drunks would get pulled over with music blasting). It keeps you a bit more aware on the road.
But yeah, avoid drinking and driving whenever possible.
